I feel like an idiot asking this, but I seem to be having some problems with Max Payne for the Xbox. In the first two begining levels, I can't seem to open any of the doors or things that Max is interested in. Do they open automatically when Max walks near them? Do I need to press a button? I feel like I've tried everything, but nothing seems to activate things. (i.e. When I walk to the phone, nothing.)
Any help out there?

Does the Xbox version have a tutorial level like the PC-CDROM version did?
If so, the tutorial should show you which keys to use for use, reload, painkillers, bullet-time, etc.

The manual probably states where the "activate" button is. Use that one... ie. RTFM (read the ****ing/friendly manual images/icons/smile.gif

Pressed evey button. Do you need to get rid of a weapon or something?<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I've never played the Xbox version, so I don't know.
Some of the developers for Remedy post here, and one of the moderators for 3DRealms owns an Xbox. Hopefully one of them will see this and come up with an answer for you.
Most of the ppl that post in this forum played the PC-CDROM version. Many of us played it way back during the summer when it was released.
I don't know what the manual for the XBox version looks like, but the manual for the PC-CDROM version did list the default control layout.

I own an Xbox and have the game.
There is a tutorial level, you should use it. The keycodes are shown in the manual, as well as in the game, too. Go look in the config menus and see what keys are assigned to what.
Definitely works - I've finished the game on the Xbox. If I remember right, it's the "A" (green) button. Just went and looked at the Xbox manual. It says that Use is "A". Also, not every door opens, and not every phone does something.

Actually the ****ing manual doesn't say anything about this images/icons/rolleyes.gif bixen! images/icons/grin.gif
...but my Xbox did the same thing in real mode, even thought it worked fine in tutorial. It's not your fault. The problem was that most of the movement, etc. controller settings were "unassigned", so you have to go into options and specify them.

Go to the door or whatever you wish to open and push the "A" button, (the green one).
