Well I recently went from a 5500 to a 6200 GeForce and I reinstalled the Half-Life 2 demo. Well in the first map of Chapter 1 everything looks fine but in the second map the shadows are all bugged up. Also, in Chapter 6 (the other chapter in the demo) there are no shadows at all. Can someone help me out?

Bassicly, the shadow cloned itself. This is a normal problem in source, it's the cause of shadows attempting to reproduce out of lonelyness.

My god.....its been this long and people still make jokes about it
Have you tried updating your drivers? I've never seen this problem before. Then again I haven't actually played it for very long since it first came out.

Ask Drazula, he is an expert in HL2 shadow issues.

I never had this issue with my 5500 and when I installed my 6200 and updated to the latest nvidia drives I always get this issue...

Well there you go. Why'd you update your drivers?

Because they're updates... Why update Quake?

You should generally avoid updates unless there's something wrong with the version of software/forceware you're using.

3DR take note. You'll never hear the end of it if your shadow system is not upto scratch.
<Neo> Hmm... upgrades! </Neo>

Who knows, could be something in Source now that it's using DX9 shaders.
Yep.

Yes, that's what I think as well.
Gibaholic, try the exact same drivers as on your FX5500, and if the problem doesn't vanish, you can use the new drivers again if you want.
I used to see lots of people complaining about shadows clipping through walls, but I had never seen that problem... until I went from DX8 to DX9 in HL2 because I upgraded my graphics card. Then I didn't see anything else, almost :)
Mind you, it's not a problem with DX9, so don't avoid DX9 games, it's a problem with source.
