Why do I keep getting logged out even when 'remember me' is enabled? I have my cookies set to be deleted when I close my browser, meaning as long as I keep the window up I shouldn't be logged out.

However I'm noticing that when I leave the site after 5 minutes I'm logged out. Any reason for this?

Sounds like corrupted cookie files.

Alrighty, but my cookies (save for a few) get deleted when I close my browser....

It definitely works so either you didn't allow it to get set properly and so it's getting deleted when you close your browser or like Joe said it's corrupt.

So delete ALL the cookie files manually and start from fresh.

I haven't needed to login since we first started using vB.

Well I *want* it to be deleted when I close my browser, the problem is when it logs me out when the browser stays open.

Then that would be a corrupt cookie. Have you tried deleting them since we first told you in this thread?

Sometimes mozilla doesn't manage to delete a cookie when it closes down the browser so theres a corruption there.

Of course, I'm not deaf. ;) Just need to wait and see if it happens again.

Well, we're not mind readers, how do we know you've done it if you haven't said you did?

Since the new forum software was applied I have the same problem (with firefox 1.5.0.2) and get constantly logged out after at most 15 minutes.
I have already tried several times to fix that by deleting all my cookies and also removing forums.3drealms.com from my exceptions list, then setting permission again, doesn`t seem to work  .
What can I do ? Any help would be much appreciated as it`s quite annoying to log in all day / night long...:mryuck: :o

Clear your cookies manually from the directory where Firefox applies them to. It's in Documents and Settings. Not too sure the exact location though.

you mean in: Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\***.default ?
There are two textfiles: cookies.txt and cookperm.txt: when I open them I`m warned not to edit them..
Well, the entry in cookies.txt is this, there seems to be something wrong:

forums.3drealms.com FALSE /vb/ FALSE 1177342285 ltlastactivity 0
forums.3drealms.com FALSE / FALSE 1156174285 IDstack %2C4357%2C
forums.3drealms.com FALSE /vb/ FALSE 1177342229 ltlastvisit 1145806196

Is it safe to edit / delete something here ? Thanks in advance !

Back them up first and then edit them and if it fixes your problem then leave it, if not and it causes some other problems then replace them with the ones you backed up.

where is it ??!! :insomnia:
I just can`t put my finger on it....
I deleted the files cookies.txt and hostperm.1 in my profile folder (after backing them up of course), did a reset of all cookie-preferences in firefox and tried again..still getting logged out for no apparent reason
what`s even more strange: I`m able to log in here even if I have deleted all cookies in firefox and allowed no websites to set cookies... and firefox doesn`t prompt me anymore to save the password for this forum even if I have deleted saved form information before logging in (but firefox does so in case of other boards).
I have recently changed my password for this board and had to set the system back to an earlier point of time (with acronis trueimage) when I still was using the former password. I know that firefox had saved login information correctly for the former password
What am I missing ?
Wonder if Avatar_58 has been able to fix that ????????

I just ignore it now.....I'm usually not logged in long enough to worry about it.;)

I even did a clean reinstall of firefox after having deleted my mozilla profile, still I get logged out after a couple of minutes of inactivity.
I`m quite certain now that there`s a problem with my forum account settings..... :(
I`m on another board where I also get logged out sometimes, but that happens after at least 30 minutes of idle time and not after a few minutes of constantly checking something out....

It's got nothing to do with your account here or the actual forum itself. The problem lies somewhere with your computer. If you re-installed Firefox and it still didn't solve the problem then the cookie is definitely corrupted and is hiding somewhere in a directory on your system.

Use google and search up on manually deleting cookies and that should help you out.

I know it's not a problem with this forum itself because I've been on multiple computers since these new forums were installed and have never experienced what you guys are talking about. Same goes with quite a lot of people here.

There is a cookie manager built into Firefox, you can delete them manually that way w/o editing the actual cookie file.

Don`t know exactly how I finally managed to to it after fiddling around with deleting and permitting of cookies for so long - but after testing again with leaving the forum idle for a while it really seems to be fixed now !! :D :D :D
Many thanks to ADM and Joe for your help and also for your patience - if there was any ;) !
