Hello again -- welcome to the thirteenth installment of the Weekly Prey Update.
This week, we have the usual weekly status, an update on in-game dialog, some talk about the 360 version, and something a bit special: pictures of the Human Head visit to Art Bell's house to record his voice for the game.

That was cool read, these updates really show the attention of detail that goes in a game like Prey. I like stuff like that.

auto detection revamp texture quality setting and removed global video quality setting.
Sounds like "decent autodetection" :D

Another cool update...
I'm getting really curious to hear some sounds/voices from Prey...

Now checking Creative driver version, and disabling on old versions so that we don't cause bluescreens.
This made me very happy. This was a problem for me with Serious Sam 2, CoD2 and a few other games. Once I updated my sound card drivers it was fine... but still. I don't like to update from Creative because or their shitastic drivers.
It's nice to know they are in "crunch mode", just means the game is that much closer to sitting on my desk. :D

Art Bell! My girlfriend listens to Coast to Coast. She'll like that in the game.

There is an enemy character called Gasbag in Kiss: Psycho Circus as well, but the name could be referring to some other feature in Prey rather than an enemy type.

Yeah, like the ship's rectum.

Nah, gasbag time is probably a "Max Payne meets Redneck Rampage" thing.
Kalki
04-08-2006, 07:30 AM
It's "gasbag death time". They're probably referring to how long it takes to asphyxiate within the rectum. This is why they have sphinc-doors. Gasbag death time within such chambers is drastically reduced should you at any time choose to fire up the lighter they give you.

Cool article as allways, those change logs really show that there is a tremendous amount of work going in a game like this. Some people tend to forget things like that and I like that 3DR and HH are showing it. :D
made normal projectiles hit spirit secrets
ohoh, now I am going to switch between normal mode and spirit mode constantly. ;) :D
I love those updates! The contact with earth idea seems pretty cool. Cant wait to just take a break from slaughtering Aliens and listen to some radio chatter on earth :D

Yeah, I was annoyed that they decided to move on and not let that speaker finish his broadcast. ;)

Haha... :D
Makes me wonder if that exact soundclip is still on that location (if that level still exists in the same form that is)

I think I know where it is, right after the alien abduction (in the video), right?
I never thought that was a radio broadcast, I was looking too much at those exploding planes :D

It's in the hallway where the flip gravity (right at the beginning of that scene). at the 7 minute 58 seconds mark. ;)

I agree, they'll move that radio between four walls on a place you can't reach. You'll never know how it ends.

Oh no I won't watch too much more of the E3 video, or I'll already be tired of wallwalking before I buy Prey :D Like was the case with the gravity gun in Half-Life 2.

Let's make a pronostic.
I think it will end with only bees, flies, mosquitos, termites, spiders, and all other insects (and things that look like insects) left :D
hell-angel
04-13-2006, 07:38 AM
Maybe you mean prognose? ;)
:p
Anyway, I hope it end with something better. ;)
Cerberus_e
04-13-2006, 08:56 AM
Better? I love the idea, at some point of the game Tommy could return to Earth for a level and be overwhelmed by lots of insects flying around, similar to what you would read in a random Moses in Egypt story :D
(they are the only species left so the natural balance is out of order, Earth could be overpopulated by them because their natural enemies are all gone, before they all die because their food is dead as well :D)

I worry about 3drealms and distractions.
this does explain the slight but noticeable decrease in frequency of Joe posts;)

And don't forget that because of Oblivion release date of DNF was delayed for 80 hours.
