I was just repremanded in my A-level year because i painted a dope-fish on my locker (a practice which is actually allowed). However my Tutor was upset about the drugs related name.

Send your tutor to www.dopefish.com (http://www.dopefish.com) and also tell him that the word Dope originally and still does mean "stupid" or "dumb", and that using the word doesn't mean the fish is a crackhead.

(1) A-level = education standard for 16-18 years old, after GCSE and before uni.

I got in trouble with my shirt becuase it said "eatus" on it. I think the people who point out those things are paranoid and sick themselves, becuase that'll all they think about.

This isn't the first time I've heard of people getting in trouble for the name of the Dopefish because they thought it was drug related.

I never made any connections to drugs when seeing the Dopefish name. Makes you wonder if they think so, what they do.

dope - drugged, stupid, dumb, dumb person, idiot, etc., umm....

I remember a classmate whom which used the word "dope" around most places where a lot of people are around (i.e. outside the rooms, in the names of some junk files in the Macintosh [ http://3drealms.3dportal.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif], during lunch...) and nobody asked.

What? You got in trouble for because of the dopefish? That's surprising.. In my art class (computer animation) I was allowed to use the dopefish as a character. The teacher was suspcious of the name and repeated the name when she first read it. I was like, 'Yeah. He's a dope and kinda stupid. Almost anything amuses him.' My teacher then said, 'Oh.. alright.' So see, it all depends on how you present the character and his motivations.

Maybe you should get the facts about Dopefish from the site, make a bullitin and spread it around your school. Also mention the site, so they can check it yourself. If enough people find it OK the school can just forget it.

One day at my school, while we were educated (at least they tried to do so), there was a Soccer Match with a team from Holland called Ajax, to become World Champion. We were not allowed to watch the game. But we did so. When the school started to act more moron, we brought in the Local TV and Newspapers. We were able to watch the game after all.
Also we won the match, so there was a biiiiiiig party afterwards.

Yeah, I can picture this...

You walk into a school and plastered on several lockers and bulletin boards are flyers for the "Dopefish", with mention of the words "cult", "Duke Nukem 3D", and "praise the Dopefish".

It'd all wind up on the 11pm news as some up and coming cult on drugs planning a mass murder.

DOPE also means cool and fly(fly also means cool). G's uses those kind of words alot.
