I was wondering which platforms you guys use most often.

This is not a PC vs Console thread!!

PLEASE LEAVE COMMENTS OF THAT NATURE OUT OF THE THREAD

I play both but mostly PC. Also. the console games I play are old.

How come after I voted I got taken to some thread in the Max Payne section?

I noticed that too, i'm not exactly sure. A bug in the software maybe?

[Edit]: Oh yeah, I voted "Both, PC more than Consoles". Even though I play 97.4% of my games on the PC, i'll go back from time to time to enjoy my childhood classics (and console-only titles).

PC mostly.
Consoles are great for games in my opinion, but I lost the urge to play games some time ago. I only have a few games that I am still looking forward to. I don't try every game that gets good reviews anymore, I just don't enjoy it as I use to.
So I use the PC for other things, but mostly for the Internet.

P.S
That Max Payne portal happen to me too.

Same here, was taken to some MP related thread with this poll in it.

As for the poll, I have NEVER owned any console whatsoever simple as that.

Fixed the prob. You will all have to vote again. Please discuss this problem in the thread I just linked to.

As for the topic.. I use the PC the most. I always have, can't get into console gaming myself unfortunately. I would love to be able to though, it's just I get bored quickly on them.

I put consoles, but when I upgrade my pc, the answer will be "both, consoles more than pc's" I do have 10 consoles, after all.

I didn't get redirected to a Max Payne thread, but I did just have to reinput my vote (which was for PC only)! Oh Joe, methinks there are still a few bugs...

Incidentally, why is there a "none" in the list? How is anyone who doesn't use a PC going to vote in this thread? :p

Both, PC more than console.

The reason I tend to play games more on the PC is because I actually find it difficult to play games on a TV, everything is so blurred and low res. Im sure there are probably other reasons, but im not really sure what they are. If I could find a way to hook up my PS2 to my moniter I might start leaning towards consoles again.

Well, I actually use my PC a lot, but I spend some time with my XBox and my GBA SP as well, so I try to spend an equal amount of time amongst all three, albeit not easy. The beauty part of the PC is, you can even design your own games, and port them into consoles (I have yet to do that). I love my console and PC time equally, loads of different games to try, some games do better on console than on PC, and vice versa. For console games, I prefer driving games, classic compilations, and GTA-style games. For the PC, I prefer RPGs, FPSs, and sports games (primarily because the PC versions of sports games will actually allow you to do more customizables, that's why I prefer that over console versions).

Okay, I better keep this post short, so I'll end it here, and finish my story later! :D

Both, Consoles more than PC, shamefully. :(

It's just that it's been a long while since a PC game has really grabbed me. I don't just mean impressed me or been fun, I mean pulled me in and really have me stick around.

Fear was okay, but fun and interesting rather than immersive. Half Life 2, ditto. The last games I've played that have really had me engrossed have been:

- Theif 1 and 2
- System Shock 2 (In the middle of my 12th playthrough, and I still  it)
- Splinter Cell 1 (The sequels seemed to lose the charm and deliberate slow pacing that I loved in the original. Even then, this was XBox only on release, if I remember correctly. :\)
- Psychonauts. Brilliant game, and well worth the great deal of effort I had to go through to get it.

Apart from that, nada. War sims, online-only, strategy and RPG games seem to have been the main PC genres as of late, and none of them really interest me.

Given, I can't really call consoles the bastions of immersive and intruiging gameplay. If anything, I'd be more likely to say they push the opposite; cookie-cutter, mass-marketed, soulless titles flood the console line as publishers discover that what people seem to buy is the stuff that they've seen before except with more bullet points.

The reason I've been playing console games more of late is purely because, well, I was so caught up in PC gaming that I realised I'd completly missed 2 generations of games. I never owned a Playstation, and I didn't even own a PS2 until recently, and I kept hearing about these great, interesting titles that I never bothered to play. So I'm sort of playing catch-up now, and I seem to have settled on the PSP as my system of choice as it allows me to play a lot of the types of games I've missed without battling for control over who's going to use the TV.

And yet what are the games I'm waiting for on it? PainKiller and Metal Slug, two games I've played to death but am going to buy anyway because I know I'll like them. Oh how I hate my hypocrisy.

[edit] On another note, I'll probably be back in the PC saddle as soon as some of the games I've been waiting for finally come out. So dreadfully sick of constantly waiting for games such as Stalker, Duke Nukem Forever and Bioshock to a lesser extent.

I just voted for PC. I do have an Xbox, but I haven't really played it in years. I also have a PSP. But I don't play it enough to even say I play it.

For games far more in favour of consoles (especially DS of late). General use I use PC far more though. I used to play PC games alot though but there' justy hasn't really been much of interest on the platform in the last few years. Sure I've picked up a few games but nothing that holds my interest for long.

I use my PC for lots of games I know will never come out on a console. Total War games, Guild Wars, stuff like that. And I have my consoles for the same thing. Knowing games I want wont be on PC... I buy them for consoles... It sucks having to split the money between two... three loves... :o

PC only.

Dave-ros

Just to flesh out my vote for PC only: I don't have any consoles, other than a very old Atari Lynx! One of my housemates has an Xbox (original) and another has a Dreamcast (stop laughing!) and a GameCube; we're a PS-free household :p

A lot of games for my PC are exactly the same as their console versions (the new Tomb Raider, for example), so I do sort of play console games... ;)

Well, before I had a sense of the console world, I first had the TI-99/4A, if anyone remembers those old home computer days. Then I moved onto an NES, then an SNES, then to the original PSX, then I was a PC gamer, then I tried getting back into console gaming with the XBox, and the GBA SP. I still do a lot with PC gaming, but when the Wii comes about, then I'll jump back onto Nintendo's bandwagon (great to do after all these years). Hoping to get back into the console market, tho, I was talked into the XBox (I originally wanted the Gamecube, but the guy at EB double talked me into M$'s big profits).

PC

There are very rare occasions when I'll dust of the PS2 (Devil May Cry) or Gamecube (Resident Evil 4), but not enough to say I play them a lot. But that's only two games, compare that to the 15 or so I have installed on my PC.

Both, Consoles more than PC.

For one thing, I have a lot of consoles, old and current, and a lot of games for 'em. It's hard to get too bored around here.

Also, both computers I have access to are ridiculously outdated; whenever I do play them, it's for older stuff (read: classics :)).

...another has a Dreamcast (stop laughing!)...
Hey, there's nothing shameful about having a Dreamcast when you have Soul Calibur!

Yeah dreamcast has ****ing awesome games and console design generally. It's failure doesn't make it shameful. I wish I had more people that liked to play powerstone :(

Yeah, and the fact that it used Pocket PC technology to run it was something. I could've easily designed a game in VS 2005, fired up the Pocket PC tools, and ported a game right into the thing. Then again, I'm not too sure if the Dreamcast could use the .NET technology for the ports, tho...

Yeah, I guess that having the Wii around will give me some possibilities of trying some old N64 games from Nintendo's library. Unfortunately, there's no way to d/l any N64 games from other company libraries from what I hear, unless other companies can sign on to let you d/l their games for a price.

Total PC Gamer here - the only other Platforms I play on are my good ol' SNES and Commodore 64 (Gaming today isn't anything like it was at these times). And my GBA SP becomes some of my gaming time when i am not at home, but i would say over 90% of the times i play its on PC.
The only Console i would get in this New Generation could be the Wii if Nintendo can really deliver great Gameplaymechanics. As for the other two Consoles: I connected my PC to my TV, i have Gamepads and a Steering Wheel for it so my PC IS the ultimate Console.
