Or edit posts 'on the spot'. I have to go to the advanced version if I want to post something or edit a post. Otherwise I click the 'Post Quick Reply' button and nothing happens, same goes for editing my posts.
Have you tried another browser? If so does it work on that?
Those features need javascript so it may be that your browser has that turned off, or has limited it somehow.

I get the same here. I believe I have full Javascript support. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.3 and have Java installed.
Edit:
I don't know if the last bit is relevant.
Hmm that is weird. How long has it been like that.. and again does it work on another browser?

It started this morning, but it's working now. I have the same browser as Kristian Joensen.
Weird.
I'm thinking you had a corrupted cache. The javascript file that is needed to have the AJAX features here work was probably corrupt and so it wasn't working fine until it expired and your browser grabbed the copy again off the server.
So basically in otherwords if you have a problem like this or anything really clear your cache, you will be suprised at how many times it will fix your problem.

Yeah, it's working fine here. In fact, this msg was posted with quick reply.

It works fine now, I did nothing to get it to work.

Java has nothing to do with Javascript other than you can use both to create online/offline applications and features. If you had no Java, you could still run Javascript.

What the hell...suddenly I'm having this problem. I can't seem to update my posts with quick edit, as the forum just hangs there waiting. Yet for some reason full replies work fine........
(even worse - quick reply/edit worked on this post)
I'm going to say it again.. read carefully guys.
Do this:
- Try it on another browser. Does it work then?
- Clear your cache. Does it work then?
Let us know.. don't go posting here saying it doesn't work and nothing else.. we need details. Put in a little bit of work and we'll do the same by trying to help out.

Exactly. Just saying "it doens't work for me" means NOTHING. Have to have more details, as 95% of the time it's operator error anyway.

It seems to occur only in certain threads. That Al lowe thread refused to allow me to quick reply, but I could do it just fine here and in other threads. Clearing the cache doesn't seem to help at all, though.
I wouldn't call it 'operator error' when one or two threads just refuse to allow this. ;)

No problem in the Al Lowe thread I saw.

It was actually the 'Sam Suede - Al Lowe" thread. The next reply I do in there I'll try a quick reply to see if this was a one time problem.
EDIT - Yeah...seems to be working today. Last night it refused to allow me to do anything 'quick' and I had to go advanced. If it happens again I'll try a few things like IE and my other PCs.

Well, there has been zero change on the server, so I seriously doubt it's on this end.
I had problems in another boards when posting certain messages. After clicking the quick reply button, it will stall. It turned out it was a problem with Apache mod_security doing some sort of filtering. However, you could not post the exact same content in advanced mode either, because it would generate a 50x error (I don't remember the number). That's why I'm not sure this is relevant, but I thought it was worth commenting it.
