The Dopefish SETI@home group has now done 1.49 years of computing time, due to the arrival of somebody named "Dopefish Squidlips". Joe Siegler has also joined the team!

Yup, I joined up! I'm running on a slow machine, only a Pentium 200 - so it's taking me forever to process a packet.

But I'm working at it. :)

I noticed there's now 9 people on there - I started pushing it, so hopefully people will pay attention to it now. :)

Joe's last message captured my sentiments exactly. As soon as I read in his .plan that he was joining the seti@home team, I decided to switch from distributed.net to seti@home. My only problem now is to overcome the urge to play Q3A whenever I can get on my computer.

So *that's* why all those people were joining. I wondered about that. :) BTW, it's up to 15 members and 2.31 years of computing time!

Oh, and dopefish, stop complaining about your slow computer. It takes mine over three times as long to finish a data unit. :(

Scyth, what's your username? I don't see you on the member list.

16 members and 3.40 years!

Sorry, I still haven't beaten that urge to play Q3A. Seriously, I'm going to run the client on my P450. Unfortunately, I'm rarely on it as my brother seems to be using it 24-7 (to play text-based muds; go figure!). When I do get on it, I have to make a descision between getting a good half-hour of Q3A death matching in or downloading the SETI@home client. Guess which one wins.

I'll try to do it soon.

If your brother is playing text-based MUDs all the time, just set SETI to run all the time in the background--I don't think his framerate will get much of a hit. http://www.dopefish.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think my CPU is defective or something--my dad's computer at work, also a P150, runs games much quicker for some reason...

Oh, yes, the backbreaking strain of having so many fast computers must be grueling! http://www.dopefish.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
