I like the thing with a game story centered around an evil drug (anyone played Rise Of The Dragon?). All the junkie stuff gives the game lots of cool atmosphere, but, when you think about it, what kind of stupid drug is Valkyr actually?

In the real world, junkies would definitely try it -- even if the effect was exactly the same as any other drug. But why would someone -- like that boss woman in MP -- want to develop a drug that makes people totally wacked and dangerous to other people and themselves? The ultimate drug for a dealer is something that's expensive and addictive but not destructive and unhealthy. Even Heroin is a better deal for a dealer than Valkyr (assuming that Valkyr addiction and market price is the same as smack).

From a reality perspective, I don't see the "sensation" Valkyr is causing in Max Payne. Do the real world NYC gangs spray "Heroin" on every brick wall they can find?! images/icons/rolleyes.gif

That said, I do think Valkyr gives the game and its story an atmosphere that wouldn't be possible with an old real world drug.

Well if you've completed the game (and if you haven't then this is a spoiler) then you would know that it was created to make the soldiers fear nothing and feel no pain, but it made people crazy so the government scrap the idea. The Asier corperation continued with the research even though they werent supposed to. The drug made people go crazy, but they still didnt feel pain, thats why you can shoot them and it doesn't really have an effect on them. She made a ton of money off of that and thats why she kept creating more and more of it.

Yes, I know Valkyr's early history about the soldiers, but I didn't understand why the woman cared to continue develop the drug if it just made people insane. But OK, if it does make people feel less pain and make them megalomaniacs, maybe it was original enough to sell and cause a stir in the society (then again, why not just sell Heroin and keep people more sane?).

Maybe it was a stronger and cheaper than heroin. Plus, if she was making money off of it and had enough cover to keep making it without trouble, why would she stop? She wa that kind of character, you know, the greedy antagonist.

Plus, if you'd noticed, it kind of makes people megalomaniacs, which is a great feeling (a.k.a. Jack Lupino), and they're total freaks. Plus, all that stuff that zombiecubed said.
