In the demo i noticed problems with the glow effect in some areas, a prime example being the first time you meet your grandfather in the spirit world.
From certain angles the glow on the sky and other objects dissapears as seen in the attatched screen shots. It will also happen on weapons in other areas too.

yeah it happens alot in multiplayer with the walkway glow too .. i think this is a known bug though
It's definitely an issue I've seen others bring up but I have never experienced so it has to do with drivers or similar.

Yep, I get the exact same problem. It seems to happen to anything that glows, like on the gravity walkways, the red rods on the first weapon you get, etc.
BTW, what graphics card are you using? I using an X1900XT with the omega 6.5 drivers. Apart from this the game runs perfectly fine.

x800 .. seems like mostly (or only) ati users get that problem.
Yeah I'm using a nvidia 6600GT 256mb with whatever the latest drivers are.. so I think it is an ATI issue (which is weird since ATI was working closely with HH).

that is weird .. because i am reading the forums straight for 2 days know and the most issues i can remember was related to ati cards. There where a few nvidia related issues to though (there always are)

I have it aswell with an X800.
Is it something to do with the shader?

what versions of catalyst do you all have ?
has anyone tried an older version ? in another thread the "portal beeing black" issue has been fixed by switching to an older version

I have windows 2k, but the xp drivers are compatible, so I have 6.5 catalyst.
I don't know why, but my computer always underacheives at games...I have $666 (strange, huh?) so I think I'll get an 1800 or 7900GT (Whatever's around $300) to tide me over until DX10. Can anyone recommend a good card around $300? (I mostly play HL2 games or BF2)
Specs:
Intel P4 EE HT @ 3.6
Abit LG-81 mobo
1 GB DDR2 RAM
x800(xt or pro, comp says xt but I believe it's pro) ATi
80 GB SATA

I can run Prey pretty much maxed out and have almost a similiar system than you. Just upgrade your graphics card and you'll be good to go. Really, for the rest you're fine (infact, better than my PC)

This is what I have (in AGP though) and it still cuts through all the games out there in High Settings. I'd recommend you get that. You'll be suprised at the increases you'll see.
Ediy: Also, never underestimate the power of actually opening up your PC and cleaning the dust off your CPU cooler and graphics card heat outlet. I've actually gained as much as 30fps since everything runs cooler now.
im using an x800 and ive never seen this problem, idk what drivers im running though. if someone can tell me how to find out, ill let you know...
EDIT: looks like its a version 6.5 issue. i have version 6.3 and ive never had any problems..

Sorry to bring this old thread back up, but I just got the full game and still get the problem.
Is anyone else having problems with the glow effect? Do the latest catalyst drivers (6.7 I think) solve this issue? Is a patch for prey being planned that addresses this issue?
