Leech ammo

I found a few different types of ammo during the demo. The red ammo appeared to be generic fire power ... the blueish ammo appeared to freeze my target.

Does anyone know if there are any other types of ammo for this gun or what there effects are?

There are two more...
They can be found in Multiplayer (Multiprey) and obviously, in the full version...
Those are:

Sunbeam (Hold down, to create an extrmely powerfull streaming beam)

lightning/railgun (shoots out some kind of lightning-like beam, which is very very powerfull, but rate of fire is kinda low)

And that's about all 4 ammo types...

Maybe you should host your own "test server" to explore the maps, and experiment with the weapons before starting any real battle first...

I know the Leech gun has plasma, freeze and sunbeam.

I may be missing something but when I am in one of the areas where I can leech and am prompted to use the I key to leech, when I press I nothing happens. This occurred at the first red leeching spot and every subsequent white one. Is there some trick to recharging the leech gun? TIA

i like using the sun beam because alot of people just doing multiprey for the first time dont know what it is and get surprised :D

That's pretty cool you can use one gun in so many ways. Looking forward futher Leech attacks.

To leech you can simply point at the source you want to use (crosshair over white/red leechpoint) and use the right mouse button (Alt fire). That works for me!

That weapon was wicked... but it kept running out... it might be my inaccurate aiming as well

It's great to know that the Leech gun has more than a mere 4 types of ammo (loved the freeze-ray and the sun beam), but I agree that it seems a bit quick to run out of ammo.

Yeah, the leach gun's biggest drawback is that thing runs out of ammo in less than 10 seconds of sustained fire. Most of the other guns can sustain fire for well over that, or do damage in a way that you'd never want to sustain it.


I'd want to make a mod level that's stocked with nothing but the sunbeam leach though :D

The sun beam is like the "lightning gun in Quake but better except that you can't move when you are shooting, the red ammo is the plasma machine gun and the other white ammo is the rail+like gun. Those are the only three available in the MP demo,am I right? If I'm not, what color is the other and which map is it on?

I haven't found the sunbeam charger yet but I've been struck by it a couple of times and really didn't know what it was. At least now I know it's the Leech Gun. It's a pretty cool device.
Btw, in the SP part I tried out the freezing function and thought I could shatter the frozen enemy with the wrench but that doesn't seem to work. That's a little disapponting.

Good advice. I studied each MP Map for about an hour each. Seeing where the ammo was, the best places to put those crab mine things, and the layout for Multiprey. The sunbeam is my favorite one of the Leech gun, but I have found the rapid red blasts are the most effective in MP.

No, me neither. I guess Joe ment that there were more types of ammo in the SP of the full game (which were already in the MP of the demo). But that solar beam was very cool in SP!

They squirt blood when they die when you kill them with anything.

I do NOT understand this weapon at all...........reading here I'd never guess I even had the same "leech (whatever that means)" Weapon. When I have chosen it as my weapon and clicked on RT Mouse - it only appears to maybe emmit a little shock wave of air - IF even that?? Seems like many have figured it out BUT I guess I would need the manual - - - I don't understand either why and what one is tod do when you come across those things that graphically tell you LEECH - Rt. Mouse???:doh:

The little shock wave of air is the freeze mode. If you get close enough to your enemy you can freeze him to death. It has a cool effect but limited range.
When the LEECH popup comes on your screen look around for ammo refill. It's a red or white (other colors later) fuzzy light. Point your gun towards the refill and suck out the energy with the right mouse button.
The mode of the gun depends on which type of energy you suck from the refilling station, try it out.
