Hey guys, I can't wait for Prey, but I'm still wondering if it'll work, the demo worked, so does this mean that the actual game will work the same way, what I'm trying to say is, because the demo worked, does this mean the actual game will work aswell?

Yes. That's the point of the demo.

At least in all cases minus "Requiem - Avenging Angel".
With that game the demo ran extremely well and bug-free but the full version needed 3 patches before I could play it like it was supposed to.

Some shareware games required less/more memory than their full version counterparts too. Nothing like that happens these days though...

Far Cry was another game where the ability to run the demo did not necessarily indicate how the full game would run. In my case, while the demo worked fine for me upon release, the final game used lighting that wasn't quite compatible with my then-current (and supported) video card. This new lighting caused intermittent freezing, lockups, and the like. While a demo should be relatively indicative of how the final release game should run and play, it is not always certain.

That said however, considering that Prey is built upon an existing game engine (Doom 3) and the demo indicates the level of polish that is typical of most AAA PC titles upon release, it's a relatively safe bet that the ability to run the demo should indicate the ability to run the full game.

The demo is not always proof either for or against the ability to run any game on your PC. For instance, with Rise of Legends, the first demo was 100% incompatable with the 64 bit version of XP, but the final game runs fine.

Your best bet for knowing if it will or will not run is your sampling size of the demo.

If you have an hour of play-time in different environments doing different things, then you should be fine. If you've played the game with the same engine, odds are it will run relatively smooth especially if the demo is fine on your computer. Beyond that, check the specs on the box versus your computer and just use a judgement call. In prey's case, it should be fine.

IMO, however, I tend to use demo's more as a "Do I want this game or not?" as opposed to a "Will this game run on my computer?"

Even if the demo barely is able to hold it's own on my computer, I will still buy the full game just because I like it, regardless of if I can run it or not.
