Windowed mode?

Is there any way to make the game run in Windowed mode? It show the startup screen, then gives an error message of some sort - when I press OK, the game quits. Unfortunately, I can't read the message as it's being obscured by the game (I can see a big-ass windows mouse cursor though)...so I can't see what's wrong.

Hold down alt, press enter. The Doom 3 engine does an awesome job of supporting windowed mode, overshadowing its inability to support alt-tabbing. :)

I'd tried that and it didn't work. I'm running an onboard sound card, one of the realTek AC97 ones, so I figured that the openAL drivers might help - after installing those, it just crashes. GAH.

Right click the shortcut for Prey, go to properties, add +set r_fullscreen 0 to the target line.

Eg. Mine is "C:\Games\Prey Demo\prey.exe" change it to "C:\Games\Prey Demo\prey.exe" +set r_fullscreen 0

or if you have a preyconfig.cfg search for r_fullscreen and change it to 0.

This is taken from a doom 3 page, since it's the same engine... In the config file though each line starts with sata not set, so if set doesnt work do seta.
