I just want to say congratulations to Human Head and 3DR for Prey. It is polished, immersive and loaded with novelties never seen in FPS. I loved the demo, and have had a kick-a$$ time player multi-prey.
Once again, congratulations. :)

I join Drazula and say congratulations again to both HH and 3DR.
They have delivered a truly polished demo that makes me hunger for more!

I'm personally expecting all future game demos to compete with this one, in terms of content and length. I mean come on - a whole hour or so of single player AND a fully featured multiplayer all at about 450mb?
Companies need to take notes - this is what makes me want the full game, not those itty bitty teaser demos that barely even show off 5 minutes of gameplay.

Couldn't have said it better myself avatar and Draz. A tremendous job by both HH and 3DRealms.

I don't think they can do. Fully installed, Prey is only 2.2 GB.

I think the only demo that can compete with Prey is Crysis demo that if they ever plan to release one.

I will also add a congratulations, followed by a short statement:
Let this signify the beginning of the climb to the throne, where we all know 3drealms should be...

Thank you, Human Head and everyone else involved in the making of this game. It was well worth the wait. :)

Aren't you exaggerating a bit here?
The only demo I can think of right now that this description applies to is the Quake 4 one.
I agree about Prey though, the demo is a good introduction to the full game; which is just as well, because as I understand it, it is the start of the game proper.

I doubt many demos will be released with this much gameplay. We got a LOT of wide-eyed looks from our publisher (and many other developer friends) when we told them the length of our demo. Almost universally, the reaction was that we were giving away too much. We were crazy fools! Etc. But, this goes back to our shareware roots, when we often gave away one-third of the game. We didn't come close to giving away one-third of Prey, of course, but we do believe it's important to give enough away to get a true feel for the game, and one level or 10 minutes of play time just can't cut it. With the Max Payne demo, too, we gave away a longer-than-typical amount. We strongly believe this is the best way to promote the game -- but it only works if your demo is strong. Maybe this is the real reason most game companies are afraid to do it.

Well, no matter what you publisher said Scott the demo is great. I was sold on the game before but now I'm sure it's GOTY material.
Noam sane?

Well I am not in the main demographic targeted by the current game development system (I'm old and will never own a console) but poorly done demos have never "suckered" me into a purchase and well done demos designed like a little "episode" *always* have. I personally don't like any form of on line group action (I keep a large cross with a crucified Jesus and a quart of holy water by the computer just in case such a game loads itself) but reading the forum here it is obvious that you have both game styles covered well. Congratulations. I am hooked into the drama of this series now and look forward to the single player version(s). What can you say about on line purchases of Prey? I don't regret my steam purchases at all. I rather like it, in fact, my steam game installs have survived three upgrades and reinstalls of Windows already and the self patching feature is a big plus for me.
Hi to all, i'm new for the forum.
I'm italian so sorry my bad english.
I played much the demo and i think this is really much good than Doom3 and half life.
In my opinions there are some things must be changed for make the game 1st.
1) Better gore effect, in d3 one thing really bad was the blood and the gibs, i think in prey gibs and blood must be more, with some new special effects like blood pool.
2) More weapons... and human weapons not only alien weapons, just like 10-12 different weapon i think it's fine.
3)Heavy maps for multiplayer game.
These my suggestions so only my opinios

Welcome to the forums :)
Just a question, but do you know how to start a thread? I am just saying this because this is kinda a bad place for this post. You just click submit new thread at the bottom of the list of threads

Have to agree. More and more demos these days come out with 1GB content.. and almost non existent gameplay (splinter cell anyone?). I think this is the biggest reason why I bothered downloading a 450 MB demo, it was worth it (5 levels).
