Can't see any multiplayer game

Hi -

I can not see any multiplayer games from inside the multiplayer screen inside Prey. On another machine in our home network this works flawless ...

any suggestion ? both machine running Windows XP with all the latest patches?!

Same thing happened to me , after a day or so it got all fixed up my itself and i was able to see all the servers again. Hope that helps

I got the same problem, can't see any server (after 3 day).

Try disabling Windows Firewall on that machine. It might be interfering with communication with the master server.

Try this: Start the game, go to the Multiprey menu, then press CTRL+ALT+~ to bring down the console. It should give you the number of servers it found after you entered the Multiprey menu. If says "Scanned 0 servers.", then it is having trouble talking to the master server. If it says more than 0, but doesn't display any, then it can talk to the master server but can't contact the game servers themselves. It may take a minute for the scanned message to come up, so if you don't see it wait a bit. Let me know what you find.

I bring down the Console and it says "Scanned 0 servers".

A friend gave me some IP-Adresses and I can play.

I had the same problem for the last few days, but I finally fixed it.

Here's what I did:

1. Go into Notepad and add this line: seta net_master0 "209.131.124.233:27655"

2. Save as a .cfg file in ".../Prey Demo/base folder (ie. myconfig.cfg)

3. Right-click on the shortcut to the Prey demo and change the target so it looks like something similar to this: "C:\Prey Demo\prey.exe" +exec myconfig.cfg

4. Run the Prey demo

Now you should be able to see a full list of servers.

For some reason after I did this, the game skipped the short intro (which in my case is a good thing so I can get right into the fray). Anyone know why that is?

I did what Brister wrote and the intro gets skipped but I still see no games and the console says "Scanned 0 servers" each time I refresh. I don't use the Windows Firewall and allowed internet access for prey.exe in ZoneAlarm.

doesn't work for me either, it started happening to me today which makes me think it has something to do with the release of the xbox 360 demo release.

also when i hit heartbeat in the console I get an error "server is not running"

Hmmm, I can't see the servers now, either, and I was just playing earlier today.

I've checked around the forums and it seems that a lot of people are unable to see the server list. Probably has something to do with the main server being down.

OMG, you call your self gamers and you don't use X-Fire? Use X-Fire to connect.

Haha, thanks Crimson. I haven't used XFire in a long time. I'm not too much a fan of third-party programs when it comes to finding servers.

I too cant see any MP games, tried pretty much everthing ive read on this forum, but nothing seems to help, running behind a 3Com router (Officeconnect, 3C855), and i have added the ports: 3105, 27719. And nothing...

Hm, don't know XFire but I tried GameSpy Arcade. Prey Demo is in the Games List, but it still shows 0 servers.
Too bad, the demo has awesome gameplay but too many technical problems.:(

Getting the same problem here, console says scanned 0 servers.

I tried adding that line to the cfg file, running it in a seperate cfg file and without.

But I was playing earlier yesterday, then suddenly no more server list
