Hi,
I've beem playing some multiplayer and thought I'd seen all of the guns but someone just hit me with this huge lightbeam type thingummy that I hadn't seen before.
Is there a full list of the weapons available in the demo ?
Here's everything off the top of my head, have no idea of the exact names:
- Wrench
- Normal Machine Gun type weapon you start off with
- Acid Gun
- Uber Machine Gun
- Leech Gun; Plasma Balls (Dark Orange Node), Zap/Lightning Gun (White electricity node), Sunbeam (Light Orange Node).
- Crawlers (grenades)
- Crawler launcher (grenade launcher)
That's it? The one you were getting hit by was probably the sunbeam or the lightning one.

Is the Ice beam for the Leech Gun not available for the leech gun in Multiprey..?
Would be cool, to have it slowing down enemies when hitting them, giving them a "little" chance of surviving the attack...
Nope that's not in Multiprey.

Too powerful, I assume.

Does anyone have the names for the weapons?
Wrench (Alt fire is a harder attack, IMO it shouldve been to block melee attacks)
Sub Machine Gun (Alt fire is a sniper rifle)
Acid Sprayer (Alt fire is a acid vile launcher, IMO it shouldve sprayed out acid, like that alt fire of the flamethrower from Unreal 2 when it sprayed gasoline on the floors and walls, only the acid sprayed on the floors and walls would be toxic if you walked on it)
Heavy Machine Gun (Alt fire is a grenade launcher)
Multipurpose Energy Gun (4 types of energy, Alt fire leeches energy from the nodes around the levels, also the lightning bolt and sunbeam doesnt go through portals in MP)
Crawler Nades (Alt fire makes them sticky nades/proximity mines)
Rocket Launcher (Alt fire makes a cloud that absorbs all projectiles, and I think it absorbs the wrench attack)
Also note that splash damage doesnt go through portals so if someone is trying to hide from your rockets/nades by going off to the side on the other side of a portal, just stay on your side of the portal and blast the ground on the other side.
Spirit Bow (When in spirit walk, IMO alt fire shouldve done something, but it doesnt)
Those are the only weapons Ive seen.

I never saw the crawler launcher, I was talking about crawler nades.
To me crawler launcher implies a gun that the crawlers are launched from.
The crawler nades that Im talking about are the ones you hold and throw.

You can get all those weapons in Single Player if you type 'give all' at the console.

Thanks guys - have seen all of those with the possible exception of the 'Crawler Launcher', what on earth is this.
I've seen the hand held crawlers that you use as grenades, is that what you mean ?

I had a question about the crawlers. I've noticed that if you hit secondary fire while holding a crawler, you can flip it over. Does this do anything . . . . useful? :)

The rocket launcher you mention is the crawler launcher. Look closely at the gun, you'll see those crawlers inside.

When they are upside down, tommy only rips off 1 leg and throws it. They then attatch to what they hit and stick around for up to about a minute or so and blow up whenever some idiot is dumb enough to walk into it. This is also incredibly useful for nades in MP for throwing them on the ground near a guy you're fighting, as it's guaranteed only to blow up if someone walks by it. Remember, however, that it does not recognize friend or foe.
Basically, heres how the guns work:
Wrench: Straight up melee bludgeoning device. Alt fire is a slower, more powerful attack, main attack fires 3 times then pauses for another salvo of 3.
"Assault Rifle" (the gun with 3 tubes on the front) This one is an accurate assault rifle like weapon. After it fires X amount of rounds, it cools down and the tubes swap out (this is it's version of reloading). Secondary fire is a sniper rifle. Increadibly deadly, 2 shot chest kills, 1 shot head kills, good range, the scope changes the texture of enemies inside it to a bright yellow. Leaves a noticable laser beam when in sniper mode, so don't run around with it in that mode.
"Heavy Machine gun/'nade launcher". This gun is, as said, a heavy machine gun. It fires rounds very quickly, maybe twice as fast as the assault rifle equivalent. However, it is less accurate, and it overheats. If you sustain fire for a long time, say, 10 seconds, the barrels grow red and vents at the rear of the gun have to let out heat (looks cool too). Alt fire launches an indirect LoS grenade that is highly deadly in close proximity (2 rounds to kill though). The 2 modes use seperate rounds of ammo, however, so it can't be restocked as easily.
Leach "swiss army knife". This is as of now 4 and confirmed more (don't know the types) of different guns in one. The current known modes are:
Red: Plasma, which fires a lot of highly innacurate plasma orbs (slow travel time, too, compared to the machine gun and assault rifle) that do quite a bit of damage. It burns ammo very fast though.
Blue: Ice, this firing mode fires a flame-thrower-esque streem of something. The end result is the target is frozen and falls to the ground, often times shattering. However, when shot with this, it also turns the enemy transparent, as in a literal block of ice, so it literally either turns them into ice, or it turns them into something else. I also call this the phantom gun since they turn transparent :P
Electrical: Lightning: This mode charges to fire 6 lightning blasts that are hyper-accurate, but with roughly a 1-2 second refire time. They do a considerable amount of damage, too :P.
Sun: Sun beam: This mode changes the gun to a continuous stream beam of orbital death. It is hyper-accurate, incredibly deadly, and so powerful that it actually pushes your avatar back. You CANNOT run forwards, and barely can walk forwards, while firing this gun. However, this is my favourite gun in the game.
Alt fire leaches the various ammo types from the nodes around the game. Please note, this gun burns ammo INCREDIBLY quickly. You must use it sparingly or you will burn your ammo fast. However, this is compensated for by it's incredible damage levels and it's flexibility pending available nodes.
Acid Sprayer: Shotgun: This gun fires acid out of an acid vial. The pattern is that of what you'd expect a shotgun to do. It fires up to 4 rounds consecutively, then it takes considerably longer to fire more rounds in a string, IE about 3 seconds or more between shots. When not firing, the acid vial starts refilling itself back to maximum. In alt-fire, it launches the entire vial out like a grenade. The result is, if you hit, a damned powerfull shot. However, it does not actually coat the ground with anything deadly, and it's very easy to miss with, so it isn't that great IMO. Reload time of the vial after alt fire is about 3 seconds. This gun can be difficult to aim at range and is easy to mith with arguably when lagging, but it is a very powerfull gun when in the right hands.
Wriggler (green tripod thing): Grenade: Primary fire of this weapon has tommy rip off all 3 legs, where the grenade can be held for up to 5 seconds before being thrown (otherwise it blows up on you). After being thrown, the grenade will arc like a grenade (indirect LoS). It does not seem to really bounce, but it takes about 5 seconds after being thrown to blow up, so it doesn't seem like you can "spoon" it. Alt fire switches the grenade around, where tommy can then normally fire it (hold it too if you want to wait to fire instead of a tap) where he rips off one leg, and then the wriggler attaches to a surface and awaits a poor bastard to walk too close to it, or for a time limit to expire where they auto-destruct. When stuck like this, they release a highly-visible cloud of green smoke straight up relative to their position (IE if they're on the roof it goes down, floor it goes up, on a wall it goes sideways outwards)
And, last but not least, the grenade launcher as I call it.
"Wriggler" Launcher. Grenade launcher. It seems the wriggler grenade has a very unfortunate cousin that is fired from this gun (it is the seventh gun, and arguably the hardest to find/get in the MP maps). It is a rapid fire grenade launch that launches on-impact explosive wriggler-like creatures. It arcs I believe, but not nearly as much as the heavy machine gun or throwing a grenade. Alt fire crushes the wriggler and releases a cloud of the wrigglers essence in front of the gun. I have no clue what it does, but the one guy said it absorbs projectiles, so I'll go with that.
I hope this helps. I gave, hopefully, detailed annalysis of the various guns/etc and how they handle, what they do, etc. Hope it helps, cheers.
BTW: This is the sun beam leach ammo in action:

Increadibly deadly, 2 shot chest kills, 1 shot head kills
So headshots do more damage with all weapons?

That's correct.
It actually seems to be quite effective - perhaps it might give you an edge in a crawler launcher dual.

That was very useful, thanks. I didn't really pay attention to the weapons' 'reload states' until I read your guide.

I believe the secondary fire for the acid gun bounces off of walls. If you shoot a wall then the opposite wall / floor / ceiling (depending on where you fired) gets covered in acid, which I'm assuming does damage like the primary fire.
I'm pretty sure I've killed some people this way, but I could be missing something...

It doesn't do any damage. I've tried shooting at the ceiling above stationary players, but when the acid rains down there's no effect.

All the weapons in the full game are in MultiPrey.
However, not all the leech powerups are.

@Firefly
I know the default machinegun thingy and the bow does make more damage with headshots... I haven't tested any other weapons like that yet...
Shouldn't be too hard though, just play the game with "give all" and "notarget" and try it out on each enemy... with the weapons...
And i am sure the spray effect of the Acidgun's acid-canister (after hitting a surface) makes damage on players, becasue i am sure i've done that myself before...
Also in the 2005 E3 footage, on the astroid, the player also shot the canister to the ground, and damaged the enemy (not killing him though, so it's obviously weaker after hitting a surface)
PS
@Joe
Yeah, like the Freeze fire-mode... That's really sad, it would have been damn funny...
Hopefully we'll play with that in DNF... :)

Yes, but the damage is probably localised to the area around the canister.

I've tested this and the cannister doesn't actually do any splash damage (there is ZERO IFF, if you walk on the acid, it would do damage to your regardless)
The only time I've ever seen the cannister do damage is after a direct hit.
I'll try the notarget thing and see if I can get hits though.
After testing this a bit, I have determined that the canister will only do damage on DIRECT HITS or NEAR DIRECT HITS (IE within about a foot of their feet).
There is next to no splash damage on this thing, whether it's a bug or not I cannot tell, but it isn't that great (the alt fire) as it only does real damage on direct hits and is too unforgiving otherwise.
Also, there seems to be no residual acid damage either around where the cannister hits.

I kept trying to figure out how the crawlers became proximity grenades, thanks for the heads up

yeah the rocketlauncher(crawler/wiggler launcher or w.e. you call it) has a secondary fire that creates a shield. At first i didnt know what this was but after playing around with it, when you lay it out no gunfire can pass through it.
OnyxBMW
06-25-2006, 11:36 PM
yeah, I tested it in SP and it's damned cool none-the-less. None of the enemies will fire at you as long as you have the shield up (sometimes they do if you charge through to nade 'em they will)
It's pretty cool.
