I’ve just played the Prey demo, and besides it was great I noticed the Update option in the main menu and thought that it’s the best idea for being up-to-date in a game without having to find patches through the internet and download things all by yourself. Just a button.

So I wanted to say that it would be a great idea to see this Update system in DNF and to let this open for more opinions and ideas regarding this matter.

P.D: great game Prey (demo), I’m not expecting less of DNF.

This system is soooo old. *looks @ Quake 3 auto updating tool*. It's not really a new "idea".

You should learn German. They have words with a length like this:
awfhoaeihfoiaefhoiehfoiehfoihewaofihiefdhiuehdfo
:D

I'm from Yemen / India, and here that's actually a word ( roughly translated, vocally ). It means "Man who doesn't brush his teeth".

And update system in game sis helpful. But I like the way FEAR and ilke games did it. You start the game and it tells you a newer version is available, and asks if you want to update.

Being forced to update is a pain sometimes, I would rather have a choice.

Possibly. ;) The real joke, or perhaps "laughing matter" one should call it, is that most people are so blissfully unaware of alien languages, that they could seriously buy into that as truth. Monty Python did a sketch about a never-ending german ( or was it dutch? ) name, at least from what I remember, and beyond that there probably aren't any more lenghty words in german than there are in the english language.

Being forced to update is a pain sometimes.

Completely agree. Make it a choice, and hopefully an archived file that sticks ( large file, cramped up main server, sit around and bash two rocks together for two hours, while a torrent might have done wonders; you get the picture ).

I'd rather just go to their site and see if there's a new version every now and then.

Don't want the damn thing to waste time and bandwidth checking when I don't care..

Of course, check for updates only when you click it and not every time you log in. And also letting you choose if you want to download it or not.

Directly from the site or automatically from the game should be the same server I think.

Well, the system as originaly suggested (and implemented) is a choice. ;)

It's very well possible... :tinyted:
I could prove it, but i won't be spamming this thread with my languages, before the thread starter allowed it though... :o

I only check for patches when something is seriously wrong with the game (crashing or a noticeable bug).. The first patch for HL2 shortened the long loading times (not much though) and fixed a whole lot of other things of which I didn't even know they didn't work :D

Well, I also only patch when required. But an internal update button would be nice, saves me the time for looking. ;)
