First I'd like to say this game was loads of fun and one of the best shooters I'd played in a long time. But you already knew that.

Here's some ideas I'd love to see in a sequel or expansion pack.

1. More weapons. A flame thrower or launcher would have been cool.

2. Swivelling bullet trails during bullet time, just like in Matrix and that 3DMark2001 demo movie. This not only looks better than the simple line trail, it also makes the trajectory of incoming bullets a lot easier to see. Imagine someone using an Ingram.. now that would look cool. Of course this should only be for high detail settings.

3. One thing that disappointed me about Max Payne is that the enemies (with very few exceptions) always instantly and automatically knew where you were, even when you were well hidden or moved so slowly and silently that they couldn't possibly have noticed you. The moment you even slightly take a peep at them, they'll start shooting you. This nullifies any sneak up strategies, and a lot of fun you could have had with the Rifle. I would like for the enemies to not be psychics and actually have a chance to get some sneak shots at them with that rifle. This wouldn't have unbalanced the game because Rifle ammo is scarce anyway.

One example of a time when this really disappointed me was at the beginning of Part 3 Chapter 7 when you enter Horne's building, passing through the metal detector. You kill a few guys, and then at the next corridor there's two or three thugs with M79's blasting at you from a distance. I found it impossible to run past them without killing them, because their shots were too accurate. The only way to take them down was with the Rifle, but you need time to aim with that, and their grenades will kill you before you can get a clear shot. I had to reload over 50 times. It was just a matter of luck. I tried sneaking in so I could just barely see one of them, but they could still see me. I had to be extremely lucky to get past those two.

4. Multi player. Yeah I know what you're thinking, put down your shotguns. Multiplayer could work.. The reason I assume multi player was left out is because Bullet Time wouldn't have worked fairly in multi. How about remove bullet time, and make it a powerup that you have to pick up, like Quad Damage or Invisibility from Quake? And it would be short time only (not a full bar) or one shoot dodge. Picking up a bullet time powerup would give you a chance to only use it once so it doesn't become abuseable. You are able to aim freely, but your unfortunate enemy can only aim at a slow rate, and cannot shootdodge.

Or you can just remove bullet time altogether. But then it wouldn't be Max Payne you say, it would just be another shooter! Well something is better than nothing, IMO. A lot of shooters were great in multiplayer not because of mechanics, but simply because of excellent map design. This could make Max Payne MP good as well.. perhaps with some day time maps as well as some of the locations found in the game (such as the rooftop chase or Horne's building).
