View Full Version : Anyone noticed these things in the story after replaying?

One very cool thing in the Max Payne storyline is how things late in the game connects to, and explains, earlier mysteries in a very beautiful way. Did you notice, for example, that the man Candy Dawn - the hooker who recorded pornflicks and wrote a diary - sold her video tapes to was Alfred Wooden? Other things aren't as hard to notice, but I snipped up a lot of the story while playing MP for the second time. For example, the dead man tied to the chair by the furnace - I didn't notice him much the first time around, but when I replayed the game it occured to me that he was another victim for that fat guy you get beaten up by later. And the woman who calls you at your home in the very beginning ("Is this Max Payne? Good." *click*), it's actually the boss woman.

Awesome storytelling in this game. I'd love to hear about other things if you noticed any.

Uh, she didn't sell them TO Alfred Woden, they were OF Alfred Woden: Remember? You find the tape in the Aesir building, cuz that Nicole Horne chick was planning to blackmail them with it.

lol, when I read my own post after writing it, I thought "Hmm... wasn't the tapes of Wooden?" I remembered the quote "as long as he pays for the tape the man can come (cum? images/icons/rolleyes.gif ) every day for as much as I care", if I remember right. I had totally forgotten about Nicole's tape.

you mean where you watch "the void"? you know they mention that in the manual credits. i haven't seen it yet.

Although it's cool that she's such a good shooter, I think it's sad that you have to kill her. In the cutscene with Rico she looks really pretty despite being a hooker in that filthy hotel, wacked on Valkyr. I even like her voice.

But I think it's even sadder that Mona Sax dies. I think she and Max would've made a great couple! images/icons/tongue.gif

The funny thing about the tv-show in woodens office was that they were talking about stuff like "let go into 3D REALMS" and then they talk about Bumpmapping and allkinds of computer graphics stuff images/icons/grin.gif

When I started played Max Payne for the 4th time, I saw some grafitti in Max's home at the beginning that I hadn't noticed before. There was a large "V" scrawled on the wall, which foreshadows the point later in the game when he sees the Valhalla logo on the floor.

Also, since no one mentioned it, I found a secret room in the garage level. Did anyone else find that one?

You should check out one of the lists that has all the secrets in the game. There were a ton of those lists when the game first came out. It mentions the Dopefish, Duke 3d mousepad, Buffy, and a few other secrets I've forgotten.

I never did understand what happened to Mona--Max comes back, and her body is gone, and all of the sudden Max understands everything completely. So did goons come drag her away really fast? The 2 seconds I spent killing the 3 goons in front of me didn't seem like enough time for them to take the elevator anywhere, much less send it back to me. Was Mona so jacked up on V that she lept to her feet and climbed up the elevator shaft?

Did anyone else laugh at the fact that Max called Horne the Devil? I thought the Devil takes the form of a beautiful woman images/icons/grin.gif And did anyone find it geekishly funny that Horne's last name is spelled; Horn-e? Boy that was corn-e huh?

also i did relize that the hidden room was the room alfred and candy got makin with the love in....but when u open that cabinet thing it has...swords?
