Gamespot has this weekly podcast with a hotline to call in and leave messages so after last week when one of their editors went on a rant about how DNF doesn't really exist I decided to call in and leave a message posing as Mr. Broussard and they played it this week. You can find the whole podcast here (http://www.gamespot.com/features/6153261/index.html) and skip about 42 minutes in or I've edited the call portion and you can find that here (http://media.putfile.com/George-Broussard-Call).
I hope this will be taken in jest. ;O

Ha I'm pretty sure they realized, especially since I'm sure they played the Prey demo where George actually DOES call a radio show.

I'm sorry, but I found the whole call in thing as flaimbait. Jeff is especially retarded and annoying when it comes to DNF and 3DR and I was afraid it was going to landslide from there.

I think ID means instict driven or something to that effect. (someone told me that.)
Heres what Wiki says:
Name
Note the lowercase id, the correct pronunciation of which is a much-argued subject. The current official pronunciation is id as in "did" or "kid", which refers to the id as a psychological concept developed by Sigmund Freud. Evidence of this can be found as early as Wolfenstein 3D with the statement "that's Id, as in the id, ego, and superego in the psyche" appearing in the game's documentation. Even today, id's History page makes a direct reference to Freud.
Originally however, both letters were capitalised as an acronym for "Ideas from the Deep", and because of this many argue that it should still be pronounced "eye-dee". The I was later made lowercase in the release of the second Commander Keen series, eventually followed by the D. Since Wolfenstein 3D used the "id" pronunciation together with the mixed-case "iD", many argue that the capitalisation is irrelevant and purely a stylistic choice.

That voice sounds too ridiculous to be real. They were being sarcastic when they were debating if is the real GB or not.

Wait, people called it 'eye dee' software? I've always referred to them as 'id' because the logo was lowercase. If they wanted to be called the other way they would have done it in caps 'ID'.
Then again who am I to argue.....I used to call apogee "apaw gee". :o

I did too until I heard apogee mentioned in a video behind the scenes of DOOM3 (Or some kind of iD/3dr history thing.):D

"... who can play at work and make it pay .."
What world are they living in? They definitely thought, like people do these days, that game development is just a road on roses where you can have fun all day, playing games.

Games are the next Rock and Roll. Its just that simple, misunderstood, attacked, and often considered something that just helps generate lazy people. In reality a lot of really really smart and creative people have come out of gaming and gone onto other careers. John Carmack obviously with his coding prowess is able to chose any number of programming jobs.
But its a nice article anyway, especially to look back on the "old days".
Too bad theres no place to download that sound clip from. :D

Nice work there lol. I'm surprised they played the thing being that it's so obviousely not George Broussard - but I suppose that makes for good radio - urr - podcast >_>.
As far as that whole "id and I.D pronunciation goes, I'm pretty sure Commando Nukem wiki definition and pronunciation are the correct ways to go. I personally called the company "id" and not "eye-dee" because it was lower case and had no periods between the letters. There was a phase where I pronounced the letters separately but I reverted back blah - you don't care! Anyways, I only recently learned what an id was in my psyche class and that is why I concur!
haha good one. gave me a good laugh.

Dude it's okay for now, he's not going to get in trouble. George would never harm a DNF fan like that, even though he was impersonated by someone else. ;)
