In the installer for the Alien Carnage shareware episode, after you're done installing it, it will say the default directory to install to was C:\RAPTOR.

Heh, overlooked something eh?

And how about this stupid little in-game bug, if you go to the help screen and then back to the game the status bar isn't refreshed, just the indicators.
-TX
Overlooked something else I see.

Right now, I'm pretty sure the only LEGAL way to get discontinued games are if you get lucky and find the Form-Gen versions in some store,

Alien Carnage has been removed from the product line - we don't officially sell it anymore.

It really sucks that these old games were discontinued. Whats next, Duke Nukem II?

I'm betting DNI will get discontinued before DNII http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

The whole point of the term "discontinued" means taht you CANNOT get a copy of the game from the company.

Alright. Now I'm mad. I posted in this thread twice before, and twice they got deleted. WHY???
All I wanted to know is if there was a way we could obtain a copy of the discontinued games from the company?
Why did this question get deleted twice???

*sigh*

those games are not being discontinued on whim, or cause someone in 3dR decides he doesn't like them any more. they are discontinued cause they cannot run on today's machines anymore. not only that Duke I and II run perfectly on today's comps (I haven't tried them on win2k/ME yet) they are available on the Duke3d CD.

Not on all Duke3D cds, only on the v1.3D ones.

Which is really gay.

Alien Carnage still works (at least on my Athlon). Only the REALLY old Apogee games don't (like Monuments Of Mars).
Major Stryker runs partially, I get no sound effects through my sound card.
I think Apogee is doing the right thing by discontinuing games. No-one likes buying games that don't work properly, or not at all. What annoys me is the fact that the games become unavailable after they've been discontinued.

problem is that releasing a game as freeware is not that easy, there is copyrights to consider (the original programmer/designers may not like their game to be freeware) re-releasing a game require fitting tech support, meaning more headaches for the support guys. and 3dR doesn't have a good experience with giving away stuff, like what happened with Duke3d.

Just as well I've played all of DNI, shame I'll probably never get round to doing DN2. It is indeed a 'gay' situation. It's not like it wouldn't have fit on the Atomic CD.

DN2 was so much more fun that DN1. It's graphics were twice as good, too.

Well, yeah. But which one did you play first? Don't get me wrong - I agree with you, by every "mesurable" way, Duke 2 is better than the first Duke game, but the first Duke game was really damn groundbreaking.

well, Joe's not really objective on that matter (I'm Back! hint hint http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/tongue.gif)
apart from that Duke 1 was really cool, with all the real neat graphics, and stuff. the only problem i had with it was that i played it after playin the Keen games, so i was heavily biased.

The first Duke is better than the second IMHO.

In the WizardWorks (GT) Raptor CD, it
installs to C:\CARNAGE\. Very odd.
