So, WID, presumably there's going to be some media to go along with 3DR's announcement. What do you think the teaser trailer should be like?

My idea:
Fade in to a close-up of bloody alien flesh. Pull out slowly to reveal that it's a dying Battlelord.

BATTLELORD:
Who...are...you?

Duke steps into frame and cocks his shotgun..

DUKE:
My name's Duke Nukem.

He shoots it from close range, turns, and walks away.

Close-up of his face. He grins and puts on his sunnies.

DUKE:
It's done.

CUT TO BLACK.

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER. COMING --
ALWAYS BET ON DUKE.

good idea,prolly serve us forumers justice but the masses might not catch on. i think just an idea of a major hero theme and a full on fps is coming to rock the world. truly though, this is gana be the one that fully starts the video game industry outdoing hollywood. the entertaiment industry is gana have to catch up. MMMMM Pig cop Flying and a voice say "when pig's fly"

Duke Nukem Forever... It's done... and a release date "27-08-06" (it's my birthday :) )

Pig's finally fly... Dr protons last evile invention!

The camera pans through some dark and shiny metal corridors, as dark ambient music plays. The camera cuts to a first person view, of someone with a flashlight walking through. He looks down in a corner and focuses on a dead body.

Cut to black.
"A new threat sweeps over the planet (or something else generic-y)."

Our wanderer is now in a different hall, full of more dead bodies. If you look closely, you can see "EDF" written on their uniforms.

"Mankind faces its darkest hour."

A distant crashing noise is heard; the camera turns around abruptly and our character draws back his flashlight and pulls out a tiny little pistol.

"The hopes of all humanity rest in one man..."

Our wanderer is getting closer to the source of the noise, as the ambient music starts to become more intense.

"But can he handle..." The text is now appearing over the screen as the camera moves along the passage. "...the darkness that awaits?" The music is now really intense, as if to say "something bad is about to happen behind THAT door!" The door opens and the music comes to a sudden stop. The lights all turn on at once.

"Duke: Much better."

The camera turns quickly, only to be met by a large boot coming straight into the screen. The camera then pans outward in slow motion, revealing that our wanderer was just a lowly alien sentry who just got his ass served by Duke.

Grabbag starts playing and various action sequences are shown, none of which involve dark shiny metal corridors. Motorcycle action, other vehicle action, maybe a few shots of the interactivity scenes, and probably a short stripclub scene. The scenes become more action-packed as the trailer goes on, ending with a big explosion--like a building collapsing. Finally, it cuts to the logos, and "Always bet on Duke." After that, a short coda with a squeeling pigcop getting hurled through the sky.

Actually I think it'd be cooler if the trailer had maybe just 5 seconds of gameplay. We don't know what's in DNF now, why should we know it when it's done? Keep everything a surprise :)

The "Las Vegas Nevada" sign, and a nuke in the background (alá Duke3D beginning) a then the sign get's blown up, and turns into a burning Nuke logo...
Follows with a voice of Duke: "I was born, to rock the world"

A helicopter is flying over vegas witha reporter reporting whats happening in vegas
Reporter: Aliens are everywhere, they are taking over!!

then all of the sudden a pig cop comes flying out of nowhere and hits the helicopter and it crashes to the ground. Then the camra focus on whats left of the helicopter and then does a 180 and you hear a motorcycle coming, you see the headlight its stops and you can't quite make out who it is yet, then some scences from the game mixed in with the shadowy figure moving closer, then i big explosion behind the shadowy figure gives enough light to reveal its duke nukem.

the screen goes blank and shows the box art, then a voice says : Always bet on duke, then the release date

Hey Micki! that idea sounds nice. I think they should release a very short trailer like you mentioned, and that would set the internet to frenzy mode. It would let everyone know that DNF is coming and on it's way. Then in a month from that they could release a trailer to the calibre of the 2001 trailer. That was the best trailer ever released imo, of any game out there. That trailer had the right atmosphere, and it sure as hell made you want to play the game as desperately as possible. If they followed it along those lines it would kickstart the hype period that the game deserves. :)

(Im writing this as im posting it, so give me some slack, im also half asleep. Sometimes that helps my imagination to be a little more vivid, and sometimes it just makes my spelling and punctuation suck.)

A slow base line can be heard in the distance, quiet and just barely within hearing range. Slowly it builds in pace and volume as the following sequence is taking place:

"In 1991 apogee releaed Duke Nukem and a new action hero was born..."

Several images of Duke Nukem one blue by one by one, left to right, all full motion, like we're passing through time.

"In 1996 Duke Nukem 3D was released, and it was hailed as the King of First Person shooters."

Several images of Duke Nukem 3D float by left to right just as before.

Text flashes and zooms in from afore to rear.

---Grabbag Kicks into high gear---

The Nuke symbol floats into all of its glory

Duke : I Was Born To Rock Your world!

and as we always have come to expect, a missle slams into it. Unlike normal though, this nuke is shattered.

---Flash---

Gameplay footage insues of DNF, various interactive sections. Sequences showing the Landscapes from Las Vegas and the other game enviroments.

Text flashes onto screen:
"Its time to place your bets..."

Some of the Vehicular sections, climaxing with a shot of Duke Nukem or a final boss.

Text flashes onto the screen again:
"Always Bet On Duke."

Duke mightyboots a pigcop off a building. Several of the larger battle sequences flash by.

and the music begins its final climax.

DUKE NUKEM FOREVER

Duke : "Its time for the Real Deal, The King is back baby!"

(Fade down to the standard credits.)

A sign labeled "Kaiser Drawers of Doom." in the distance can be seen. A Sudden flash an Octa Avenger kicks Duke in the face

Duke : OWWW!!! You're gonna die for that!

I think the trailer should start off by showing that the graphics are really not that great. Then when you are thinking `IS THAT IT?!' it pans out and you realise that it some characters within the game looking at a computer screen (sort of like D3's intro with Dr. Betruger). Then your reaction would totally change from WTF to OMG! It could work, and most people would be like you sob's! almost gave me a heart attack! It would be different I reckon. :)

as always start a black screen. then pans over showing the statue of liberty on fire.

then the screen turns black agian. pans over to the white house in shamples and on fire. screen turns black once more and the familar duke theme plays but softly.

the screen then pans over to see boots walking toward something and the theme is now at medium levle. and goes black

now the screen pans over to a pigcop about to kill a helpless babe and the screen turns black.

now the theme is at full blast and the screen shows duke kicking the pigcop before he kills the babe and shoots him a couple times in the chest for good measures. and the screen turns black.

now the screen shows duke helping the babe up in her arms saying "hail to the king baby". and duke looking at the ruined city of los angelos letting the babe go and walks off towards the city and the screen turns black agian.

then after a couple seconds of blackness it shows old glory and nukem symbol with the theme lowering

then after that it says "almost done"

Duke wakes up in a hotel room. getting out of bed full of chicky babes, tv is on.
reports of strange alien sightings in vegas. Duke heads for the window stepping over more sleeping chicky babes. Duke spots a swat team bus with pig cops unloading. growling duke reaches for his RPG. sighting in just under the back of the pork mobile duke sqeezes the trigger. the impact sends flying pigs in all directions. chicky babes now wakeing up to the news of the invasion and with worry in thier voices they all crowd around the duke. "Please duke dont let them get us" camera pans out of the window to show vegas in the middle of an invasion. dukes voice " its time to rock the world" then jumps to multiple fps segments that show the ultimate game in history,DNF.

it begins with a close up of duke's face all in sweat in a very dark place.. is face has a angry and disgusted look.. it's(face) moving forward and back ward..
the camera get a bit farter, and you see duke is bent forward.. but you cannot see the whole body because it's too dark.. then you hear pigcops sounds.. ...then ..duke goes.. "ah...ah..aahh..".. and then you see carved on a table ..

I Just couldn't sit on the sidelines about this topic so i've signed up to avoid letting a creative opportunity (that i couldn't resist) go to waste. So here it is:

Start in black

"Earth needed a Hero..."

Fade to black, cut to a small close up of a black boot being dragged through a corridor with windows overlooking Vegas.

"To fight for us..."

Fade to a scene of EDF soldiers being overrun by aliens. With the "We need backup!" going over the radio

Then fades back to the window scene as the camera pans up past the blue Jeans to the ammo belt.

"There were babes to save..."

Fade to a well endowed babe saying "Save me duke..."

Then fade back to the window scene as the camera pans up to the ammo straps and red vest, up to the face we all know, blonde hair and dark sunglasses, clasped in a clawed hand.

"And there were asses to be kicked..."

Fades back to the window scene as the camera pans up to the battlelord, who, stops before a door and looks out the window across the vegas skyline at the alien hordes.

A dark chuckle emerges from the battlelord who says: "Not even Duke can save you now..." as he looks down at his unconscious prisoner. The battle lord then turns back to the door and presses the 'open' button.

The battle lord comes face to face with a shotgun and a voice from offscreen says: "Wrong again..."

Boom! Shotgun goes off battlelord falls to the ground as his prisoner flickers and disappears. The camera zooms to the battlelord's face when a mighty boot we have all seen before crushes the battlelord's skull. Our hero moves away leaving a trail of bloody footprints. As the camera pans to one of them we hear: "Damn! These new holodukes are good..."

The camera pans fully into the bloody bootprint, with the the words in blood:

"3D Realms: It's Done"

[ReadOnly]

Spider-Man 3 like:

We see really close a red t-shirt and the camera gliding on it slowly.
"How long...can this man... fight enemies after he finds out... they'll always return?". Then we see camera going away revealing this t-shirt was Duke's and he's standing on some skyscraper with the shining sun behind. Then he cocks the shotgun and jumps into ventilation shaft. And the answer to question above appears: "Forever". Then some huge action scenes. "The greatest hero will return...", "to save our chicks". In the end we see atomic symbol with text "DNF" on it.

You see havok scene, street in fire, with babes and their clothes all torn apart, you see people screaming, crying, screaming NO NOT HEERE HAAAA, D'ONT TOUCH MY BODY, RAPE RAPE!, and then, you hear a loud harley davidson,

Duke "hehehe, i'm glad i have new boots".


and then many actions scenes like E32001 trailer.

And then some kick ass heroic music, brains blasting, limbs going off, and babes. :woot:

And at the end: ALWAYS BET ON DUKE

[InAction]

Just a logo of DNF, slowly spinning.
A text appears below first showing "Coming W/I/D"
Then each letter of WID gets shot and changes to its apropriate date.
"Coming XX/XX/XX"
Ending with Duke saying something short like "I've waited long enough for this shit".

Fade up from black

CLOSE-UP on a smouldering V10 car engine, with a 'Q' symbol embossed on the side. As the camera TRUCKS up the road, we pass a number of other smouldering, disused engines.

A sound of a slow heartbeat is heard over the wailing of sirens in the background.

Finally the camera PANS to REVEAL a RACING CAR surrounded by a PIT CREW in silver firesuits and helmets. They are moving as if suspended in slow motion.

ANNOUNCER: Changing tires is fast. Changing engines takes... forever.

The Duke Nukem logo slides into view.

ANNOUNCER: Duke Nukem forever. Changing engines again in 2007!

[The Red Slaughter]

The Trailer begins on black. We heard some gunshots. A voice says "In the 21st century, humanity was again atacked by aliens". Cuts off to a scene where Las Vegas is being atacked by aliens spaceships while dropships drop aliens on Las Vegas. Fades to black again. "The Earth Defense Force did the best they could". Shows a fight between EDF soldiers and aliens with a man screaming on radio "We need backup!". Fades to black again. "Humanity as at peril." Shows people being slaughtered around. Fades to black gain. "A Champion was needed to save humanity". Shows a alien being killed. "And they thought that they would wait forever"... pause. Shows someone coming on a motocycle... "And they said that Pigs would fly when he arrived"... "And they where right". Shows duke apearing, soon after, a Pig Cop falling right on his nose. Shows various action sequences of DNF, Grabbag stars playing and getting stronger... action gets faster... Them... a explosion happens and we see Duke's logo on a door, with the saying "When it's done". Then Duke kicks the door and says "I'm sick of waiting forever... IT'S DONE!"!
