They probably made it up or leaked it themselves on purpose, so that will be the new excuse for delaying the game or something. That new trend really sucks.

Maybe this source code theft will end up being similar to Valve's Source code theft?
Online community ftw

It's not as if they lost anything, so any delays like in Valve's case is because they want to polish the final product a little more. Damn this game looks sweet.

I hope this doesn't seriously delay the game in any way.
But you'd think after the high-profile theft of the Half-Life 2 source code that developers would have taken internet security much more seriously. I recommend a locked-down Linux server between the developement computers and the internet.
However, it's also worth pointing out that the story has not officially been confirmed or denied. It's also curious that the hacker is apparently selling the code through a personal website. One possible reason is that China has no laws pertaining to this kind of theft, so perhaps he feels emboldened? Who knows. We just don't have enough information yet.

Now that is ballsy. :o
So if I'm correct, then the computers they are creating the game on are connected to the internet? That's just f*cken stupid if that's the way game companies are operating. Why would you leave yourself open like that?
If this is not a clicky F1 F2 F3 F4 game like Lineage 2, i'm all for Hellgate london.

Because it would hit productivity a lot if you isolated them, I suspect.

You could put 'em on a network with no internet...

So I take it you're not a fan of hack-n-slash RPGs?
You could put 'em on a network with no internet...
I mean that if you have no net access on a workstation, and have to use a seperate one for net, it will affect productivity.

I guess it is he best solution yet. And the web guy downloads all the others need. Like that only the web guy does the net things.
What happens when a dev wants to quickly look up something from the net?

It's the new way of getting publicity. Source theft. Just like old washed up celebs have sex tapes stolen, because some how the burglar knows exactly where they hid their dirty cinema.

Guess they could either connect a network cable to the net computer or disconnect(like with a switch on the floor and their foot) it or have all their manuals and stuff offline.

Why would I create something in my house, with no front walls, so everyone could see? Makes no sense at all to me. The easiest way for something to get stolen is because you let it happen. Why would you need to look up stuff on the internet? You're creating a game, and if you need to know something I'm sure there's other ways of communicating with other workers. No logic to it, unless I'm missing something that makes being connected to the Internet necessary.

The problem isn't being connected to the internet, the problem is being connected to the internet and leaving the "front door" wide open. The solution is better security (i.e. lock the damn door!).
