View Full Version : Do we know who is writing the story?

I haven't heard anything about this really, the only name I remember hearing is Gary Whitta, but I'm probably confusing this with something else. I was curious to know as well if 3DRealms is happy with the direction that the story is heading in, or if it is fairly close to their original premise for a DNF script. Any official word on this would be great. :)

P.s. Waiting for Joe to tell me off or :widjoe: ! :D

There are some rumours, but nothing is confirmed. :)

As far as we know Gary Whitta worked on it.. but that was quite awhile ago and he hasn't said anything about that since.

Did he also work on the Prey story?

How much do we know about Gary's "old" story..? Content wise..?
Did he also work on the Prey story?

The credits (i reckon) in Prey said it's made by Scott Miller...

I didn't know for sure as I haven't played Prey/demo yet.

Nothing, as far as I know all we know is that he did it.

He also did Prey's story. He spoke about that a couple of weeks ago in an interview.

That's wierd, becasue i'm sure i didn't see his anme in the credits...

I must have missed it then, or maybe it's not even there (in which case, it should be added)

As mentioned in my little introductory thinger, these days I mostly write movies and comic-books for a living. And also games, sometimes. I wrote the comic-book adaptation of Death, Jr. and also wrote script, story and dialog for games like Prey, Duke Nukem Forever and Gears of War.

I think that is exactly what the story is :D And with some twists here and there, that will do just fine. As you say so yourself, we are talking about Duke. ;)

I think that's great... If he was playing part of Prey's Story, which i doubt is medicore in any way, i believe he's making a good job with DNF as well...

The story itself may be Scott's but the dialogs or some kind of screenplay could be others. I have no doubts that DNF story is 3dr's. The other story-related stuff could be by hired writer.

What else could a Duke game be in its basic form.

Duke + badguys = Duke kicking some ass.

I smell what smells like fuel or gasoline.. hmm, thats a bad sign.:p

I think he just likes invasions because Gears of War has demons. :)

but then again, they are not human so that might be considered as aliens. ;)

As long as the feeling of the story of DNF is epic, and big in scope, with some memorable characters and awesome one-liners, I'll be one happy gamer indeed.

He shows up (in the full version at least) as writing the Screenplay with another dude who's name I forget I this moment.

Yes, Kristian told me that...
I missd it, because i was only really paying attention on the "original story" part in the credits... I didn't catch him in the screenplay part of the credits... :o

I'm kind of on the fence about whether I like the writer of Prey's story working on DNF.

On one hand, I guess he would sort of know how to do one liners ("Worst Indian casino ever!"), but on the other hand, we might hear Duke constantly spelling out the plot: "I'm a white, biking, gun-owning loner, and all my girlfriends have been kidnapped by aliens. I'm going to have to rise above my inner anguish and rescue them!"

I think its been a long time established fract that 3DR has a very good shit filter, and that Duke has been a long time established character.

Those two elements, are *forever*.

Yeah, you're probably right.

It would probably be kind of hard to mess it up anyway. As long as they keep the attitude of Duke the way it's always been.

uwe boll doesnt write.

but they usually do something to make the game dumb. i havent played a game in a while that made me feel happy to win (metal gear solid: the twin snakes was awesom) but most games today suck. 2/10 games on every shelf of every game store are good. honestly who finds thrill in playing fishing game or deer hunter game.

You're supposed to drink a nice tall glass of.... OH! SNAP!

Seriously, theres plenty to SPECULATE about. We aren't here to drag info out of George and Joe, they give us plenty of tid bits every now and again, but they aren't going to open their damn mouths just to have some(or several) punk ass(es) come down on them when things happen to change.

How would you feel to have every word out of your moth disected on a daily basis? Not a very appealing thought. So they do what any sane person would, they drink there nice tall glass of.... OH! SNAP!

speculation means guessing, Joe is beefing over us asking questions when we all are smart enough(I think) to know that they aren't gonna answer a lot of the questions, come media release or not, they'll end up holding things back for us to see for ourselves (If they tell us everything its kinda hard to be suprised by it in the game. Cool or not. Lol)

So should we all just leave the Duke Nukem Forever forums until the game comes out or what? I mean, we are really just throwing ideas up in the air in these forums for DNF. Are we wasting our time Joe, or do you guys really pay more attention to us than we think...? :o
