Lets make Prey a big sales success!
The game itself deserves it and specially HH and 3DRealms
deserve it, not only to reward the years they worked hard
in doing Prey but also to secure both will be in business
for the years to come giving us more great games in the
future.
Lets support them the best we can giving them big sales!

No offence that makes no sense you go out and buy the game...you might buy two copies but thats it...no much else you can do...

I think it'll do juuuuuust fine. I won't buy another copy just to help them out. :) But I will be telling others about the game, and showing it off (or at least get them to DL the demo for themselves!)

Do developers get the money directly from the sales i.e. money from sales are split between publisher and developer? Or does the publisher give the developer money upfront or something?

Also I am confused, I see HH had much trouble creating the game in its early days with short staff etc however how was the game funded? Who was paying who? In order to maintain the ability to afford paying for things when no money was being made from other games? Or did you have a large resource of funds from previous sales?

I also I am advising my friends to tray and buy Prey, I make it because I have one great confidence in 3DRealms and Human head.:)

The retailers buy the copys from the publisher. So they really make all of their money through the stores purchasing copys. Of course if consumers buy from the stores the retailers will order more.

They must have agreed to their profit shares. That's usually the purpsoe of a contract, among other things. So everyone recieves their cut and bonuses based on how many games are shipped.

The more people buy it at launch the more money they will make, because it's a top shelf price. They account for their sales by the total number of copys the retailers have order. How many the retailers buy, not the consumers.

It goes through the publisher. I'd assume the Producer/investor gets the biggest cut while the publishers gets the smallest and everyone else is inbetween.

I've picked up my collecter's edition copy, I'll probably get the 360 version some time down the road when I have the cash for it. (gotta have achievements, and I love how the demo looks on my 42inch 1080i hdtv)

That being said, I got Kevin's Girl to buy a copy (although it really wasn't me that sold her, I sold her on playing the demo and the demo sold her on the full version) I also am going to get a friend or two to buy the game. So I've been promoting the game quite a bit. Hopefully human head will send me one of those prey mousepads as a thanks.

My girl has been watching me play it since the first level, when my brother comes down in a few weeks I'm going ot show it to him as well. :D

And I've got to show it to my buddy Sean, he woulc get a kick out the weapons and level layout. :D

My gf probably thinks i'm paying it too much attn instead of her, lol. She just haven't really said it yet, but i can tell. :) Ironic thing is that I've only played it for a day (half way done!). But ten again she always calls even before Prey, lol.

I can get her brother into it, but his PC sucks. he only plays counterstrike
