View Full Version : Canadian LCE & DirectSong Coupon Issue

After reading the msgs about the Canadian LCE and the lack of a DirectSong coupon, I emailed 2k and asked about it. I was told this:

We started an investigation immediately upon hearing the first reports yesterday. If this appears to be an assembly error, which at this stage it's starting to look like, all Canadian Prey LCE customers will be accomodated. Please do not discard your sales receipt, as this will be required as proof of purchase. More info to follow.

Just wanted people to know the issue is a known one and is being looked into. Will report back when I hear more.

I sent a link to this thread to the guy from 2k who told me that earlier, and he responded with:

Also please tell them I apologize for the inconvenience, and we're working hard to get them taken care of as quickly as possible.

As was said, it's still being looked into. Don't have an answer to that yet. When we have one, we will update.

thanks for the help, Joe! I have to say that prey is damn good so far, i just got past the "All Fall Down" area. it's so nice to have a new 3DR game to play while i wait for Duke.

Sounds good. The only thing in the LCE I cared most about is the soundtrack download. Good to know we'll get it some other way.

Guys, just wanted to say that this issue also applies to XBox 360 LCE customers as well, not just Canadian LCE customers.

Have the 360 version. No free soundtrack coupon.

The back of the box does say that the free soundtrack is there.

I too purchased the LCE and recieved none of these coupons or tickets. Just the DVD, Figurines, Art book and Manual. :(

I just asked this morning; 2k doesn't have anything new for me. They said this:

Will have a program in place very shortly

Also, jeron's post is incorrect:

It applies to both PC and Xbox 360 LCE customers in Canada only.

So what will be done about those of us who don't keep recipts for PC games since there's USUALLY no point? I can send a picture to them of me holding the LCE and maybe a sign saying something? Maybe I could also hold some random household item as well to prove it's me?
Would that help? I also purchased the LCE specifically for the soundtrack and was shafted.

A cd-key would be sufficient, it was for valve anyway when I needed them to edit my account.

Uh, that doesn't necessarily mean that's what is happening here. I don't know what is being planned, but don't pin your hopes on what some other game company has done in the past.

Your best bet is to contact Take 2 support (more than once if necessary) on this issue and complain, so that it gets taken care of.

I pushed 2K a bit to get some sort of update. This was their response:

The program is taking more time than anticipated and we apologize for the delay. All customers will be accomodated.

At this time I don't have any more.

they gave you two options.. both are entirely reasonable... i can understand not keeping ur sleeve, but you should always keep ur receipt...

you can't blame them because you did not keep it.. most people do...

I'm supposed to hang on to them just in case the distributor screws up? Sorry man, but this is the only time that's ever happened.

How about I send a picture of me holding my LCE (Purchased SOLELY for the soundtrack) and looking pissed? That's about all I have at this point.

there should be an option for sending in the instruction manuel or so. if the return phase has pased for a game then there is no reason to keep holding on to the receipt.
It's not the customers fault that K2 or HH or whoever messed upü there. :D

In the very first post in this thread it said that you will need the receipt for proof of purchase.

Why would you through it out when it clealy states that you need it!!!

So now it's a lack of brain power causing us to throw out the recipts... Oh okay. And here I was just worried that I was a normal person who didn't keep things that 99.9999% of the time would be entirely worthless. No, I'm obviously stupid. Thanks Chris! You've really helped this topic out and are not at all a troll who has added nothing in any way, shape, or form. Head on back to your pile of random reciepts for random doughnuts from 2004 and gum you bought (Y'know, just in case there's a doughnut hole or gum recall.) with a smile on your face. You just helped one poor simpleton out.

But what if we did keep the receipt, but need it for the oh-so many other things a person would keep a receipt from a video game for? There's just so many... If I sent it in, I wouldn't have it any more and that would, in fact, make me stupid! OH CRUEL IRONY!

Anyway.... How about those of us who beat the game in 7 hours and were entirely unimpressed with multiplayed and traded the game in a week later? Are we not entitled to what we paid for?
To clarify, I'm not mad at 3DR here, it's not their fault. (Well the game being the way it is is their fault, but not the coupon thing.)

Ok so maybe I was a bit harsh saying you were stupid but I have no sympathy for you as its not hard to put the receipt inside the box or something, especially when you know that you were missing something that you paid for.

I also completed the game in under 7 hours and althogh I enjoyed them 7 hours i to feel it should have been longer/better. But even if you traded it in you would still have the receipt to prove you purchased it in the first place and therfore get you free track or what ever it is.

Toldja. I took pics before I sold it. I'm even in them. They can ask me to do whatever and I can take a pic of myself and then send them the pic of me holding the game too. Only thing I got left.

Well I normally don't keep the receipts for games either, I did keep my receipt for this as i read this thread the day after I bought the game.
Also for the guy complaining if you really truly wanted it you would have kept the receipt/game as this was a known issue from the beginning. You've already sold it so stop whining.

Well, it wasn't what I was expecting (I was hoping for some e-coupon to use so it'd be quicker), but it'll do. Just wondering, how long does it usually take to get after it's sent within Ontario? Does it takes weeks, or just a few days?
