View Full Version : Cherokee Difficulty Mode?

When you play at that level of difficulty are there any secrets to gain, what is the real point? The only thing I know and everyone else knows is that the game is just harder, but is there anything else to look forward for?

No, I think it's exactly like "normal" but without healthpick-ups.

Nothing really. It's not much harder because of the deathwalking.
All it seems to do is remove health pickups. Enemies do not apppear to be altered.
It just allows you to get a challenge.. theres no health pickups at all in the game so it's just difficult that way.

There are several easter eggs in the game knowing what 3dr are like. Joe said there was one that was in the demo that I don't think anyone has found yet too.
I'm going to do some hunting on the weekend [like the easter bunny!] myself.

What stuff should I look for, searching for secrets is not easy, so things I should look for would help:p:).
The sun symbol without a blue glow.. they usually indicate secret areas accessible with spirit mode.

Do you shoot the sun symbol or does it just show you some path to go to like it does with all the other ones?
When you go into spirit mode you'll see a path.

Cherokee mode is one thing, I know how that got unlocked. Does anybody know how the heck casino mode is unlocked? I mean I beat the game, and I didn't see anything involving a casino mode so I figured that I'd have to beat cherokee mode to get it. Then I start playing cherokee mode, and I get about halfway through the game. I decide to take a break and when getting back I accidently hit the "new game" button and notice that casino mode has been unlocked. What did I do?
I was trying for a high score in the gaming machines when I was playing cherokee mode. When I played through the game in normal I used my demo's savegames to skip the initial levels entirely since I had already played through them about 5 times.

The point is that there is no real point, due to bad game design with the "death walk".
The "death walk" completely slaughtered the replayability of this game.
Through the first run what matters and is fun about Prey is figuring out the crazy level design and solve puzzles. That's what is entertaining because you HAVE TO figure them out.
When you go for second run through the game the story and the puzzles obviously aren't anymore a vehicle of fun, because it's type of content that once used has lost its potential. So what is left in the Cherokee mode is the combat.
And the combat is completely trivialized by the implementation of the death walk. So offering no real challenge.
I really believe that Human Heads designers should have handled this better. My suggestions are here (http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=19861).

The Xbox 360 achievements are a bit boring really - complete the game on normal, then on hard. The rest are all based on the multiplayer, which is a shame because I'm not a big fan of online deathmatch.
If only there was an online co-operative mode.

Just because it's there, doesn't mean you have to use it. If you die, just reload your game. :)

Without healthpickups that would probably make the game pretty much impossible.

No, it's the first bar level but all you can do is listen to music and play poker :D
