View Full Version : Enemies don't gib easily?
Why for gibs the aliens u must shoot with explosive weapons more than 2-3 times then the alien died?
I really not understand this...
When the monster goes to low healt and u hit with explosive weapon he must explode, but this never happen.
There is in game a thing i can do for change this?

If you shoot alien for it become gibs then you shouldn't have to hit with explosive weapon because it happen by self with. I think that for it to in game have such an option is the choice but you maybe find way to the have gibs I think, as soon you look long!

This is normaly something you can change in the scripts (like in Doom 3), anyway, I don't have the game yet, so I'm not 100% sure.

Firstly, try to type more coherently.
Secondly, if you really want the gibbing, modify the scripts yourself, or wait for a modder to do it. I remember that Doom 3 actually had mods to turn the gibbing off, that was interesting.
Graaarg i can't type better i'm italian, that was my best.
Anyway i wait for mod orsimilar.
I think make more damage on explosive weapons the problem will solve

Your english is not so bad, don't worry about it. Just read the forums (or better yet, the frontpage of website posted by native english speakers) a lot and try to improve your english and it will be better in no time. ;)
As for the gibs, I would love to have them enabled as well (in the demo, game is not out here yet). I don't know how though. :(
Gibs are in the game, but it's too hard to see them.
When an aline dies u must hit him more than 2-3 times with a granade for gibbing him.

Okay, quick tutorial with the demo, before I go to work (huh, got 10 minutes lol):
1. Go to your Prey install directory (ex.: c:\Program Files\Prey Demo)
2. Go to the "base" directory
3. Here, create a "script" directory
4. Return to your "base" directory
5. Open the file "demo00.pk4" with an archive manager (ex.: Winzip, Winrar, etc...)
6. In that archive, extract the file "/script/ai_monster_base_simple.script" to your new "script" directory (created at step 3)
7. Open this extracted file and search for the line:
//HUMANHEAD gib stuff
then replace:
if ( getIntKey( "bAlwaysGib" ) != 0 ) {
gib( "damage_generic" );
}
to:
//if ( getIntKey( "bAlwaysGib" ) != 0 ) {
gib( "damage_generic" );
//}
(this puts in comments the "if" line so that monster always gib if you hit him, etc...)
8. Save the script file
9. Launch Prey
10. Once in the menu, bring down the console (Ctrl + Alt + ~ or Ctrl + Alt + ², depends on your country...) and enter the command:
reloadScript
11. enter:
map game/lotaa.map
to play in the map with the mountains, etc...
12. Once in the game, bring down the console again to test our mod
13. Type:
god
to be invincible
14. Type
give all
to get all weapons
15. And finally, spawn a monster to test the stuff, for instance:
spawn monster_hunter
16. Enjoy!
17. Must go to work now ;)

Wow.
"Gibs" is short for giblets. They are the fun little bloody pieces of flesh you see in games when you're blown apart an enemy in a very significant way.

Oh thx man, it's possible gibs enemies with explosive weapons only?
I just want more easy gibs not ever gibs.
I think like just change damage for explosive weapons so with more dmg more gibs.
Thx anyway man

d3ad connection: have you got any message returned when the game crashed ?
One thing to know with Doom 3 / Quake 4 & I think Prey too: when the game crashes, it normaly keeps in memory the last console message (in the Windows clipboard), so once your game crashed, and if you don't see anything special, try to create a simple text file, then make a "paste" command into your text editor: sometimes you should see the last error generated by the console and unfortunately, sometimes, you can't see anything.
As for the mod in itself, it's a common way of doing it by the "script way", there's nothing special in these steps (try to change the map name, for instance to see if it's ok, but I doubt this is the cause or try to change your Prey Demo path with a simple copy / paste, I know that it works without uninstall/reinstall ...)

Eh ! I prefer such issue than a pure exe crash in which case no one else than HH could do something ;)

It seems as if you make one small error the game crashes a horrible death. :P

Excessive gibbing really isn't good for games anymore. Ragdoll physics combined and this game's "Killing people on magnetic walkways which cause them to fall away" are much cooler then constant chunky body parts.

I've gotta agree with this assessment. Gibs were great back in the days when monsters didn't have much of a death animation, so the best way to give a player a sense of satisfaction with a kill was to have the monster explode into meaty bits.
However, things have progressed to the point where anything you kill (with any weapon for that matter) lets out a satisfying moan/wail/scream that sounds great on your 7.1 Dolby surround speakers and launches into death throes that look great on your GeForce 7900 GTX.

I disagree. I've modded Prey so that enemies break apart more often, and I prefer it this way. I think Prey's developers did very well with the dismemberment and gibbing in the game. It takes some time and effort to make such effects and to make them look good, and I applaud the nice work.
