"Canessa said they've found that even the so-called hardcore gamers are interested in the arcade games, and willing to pay for them."
Found? Alright that cements my suspicion that game companies are run by buffoons. Of COURSE hardcore gamers like the classics, who the frig else does? Don't the legions of websites and forums dedicated to abandonware, arcades and emulators tip them off?
Sorry but it rubs me the wrong way when people can't see beyond today's games and 'new' gamers. Some of us DO play the oldies and are willing to pay for new iterations and releases. You reading this VUgames?

I bought Frogger yesterday. It's still good. I like how it includes both a classic and an enhanced mode.
Galaga, Street Fighter II, and Pac Man all come out in the next few weeks. I'm buyin them all.
By the end of this year, I'll probably have spent $60 just in arcade games, but I think it's worth it for online play alone. Let's just hope with the next XBox, Microsoft lets us transfer our saves, and XBL Arcade games over.

These old games are worth a dollar. Asking $10 for some stupid old 4 megabyte game that has already earned millions and people have been playing for free for years is pretty ballsy.
They should stop messing around and just offer the entire catalog of old games, or at least the most popular 500 of them. At $1 a piece they would make so much money they wouldn't even be able to count it all.

Actually, most old games are only $5, not $10. SFII is $10, but it is a lot newer than Frogger. $1 for a game that had to be not only emulated, but also added to would be too cheap. $5 isn't that bad.

I suppose your right $5 is not that bad. I still think they should stop messing around and just release all of the games they can get permission to release instead of selectively doling them out in little bits over the course of years.
