I'm hesitant for the same reason. I like the concept, but I have so many games to play right now already. :p

As for the game...it's the exact game as the HL1 mod, only with better graphics. Does not justify $15. Seriously. DO NOT BUY THIS. Unless you want to be disappointed.
sounds pretty cool to me though....is it mp only or is there an sp in it aswell?

People still buy Sims and WW2 FPSs for $50. I think it does justify the $15 (now $20) just for it's originality.
And this game introduces some new features, like the ability to change clothes to help disguise yourself better.

You can play against bots as well for SP.
How much content is there exactly in this game? It sounds interesting, but if it's not a lot more than what I'd get with a usual mod, like Zombie Panic or something, then I'm not going near it. $15 + Steam = no deal unless it's very good.

They wouldn't be charging that price if they didn't have anything to show for it. Watch the trailer on the website. And besides, they are an indie studio, they could use the support.
And it's $20 now. The $15 price tag was a promotion before it was released.

From what I read it's pretty cool. I'm swamped with work and too many games already so I'll pass on this for now. Hopefully people will still be playing it when I decide to get it.
Here is a nice writeup someone at the Shack did: http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=12476809

Same here. If they release a demo, I'll try it for sure.
Is the original free mod still floating around?

The ship on HL1 sucked, why should The Ship on HL2 be any better? Instead of being empty, its going to be full of idiots.

I fail to see how the ship will work like intended. The screenshots indicate everyone is behaving like they would on a normal cruise ship, with the enemy sneaking behind them. I think the reality is going to be different: Everyone rushing around Quake 3-style, trying to find their "match".

Well, the original was most definitely one of the best mods ever, so I had to get this. It's not just a direct port. It's sort of like the original but with a lot more content and bigger maps.

Actually, the original almost always had one or two players on a server who didn't know what they were doing and went around trying to play deathmatch. The twenty dollar pricetag has drawn in a few people like this, but they stick to the deathmatch servers (there are three game modes). For the most part the servers have far more people (the original had a maximum of 8 per server, this has 24+), most all of whom know what they're doing. Before the game's announcement and release, quite a large community built up on the site's forums and a lot of people got the concept and got hooked on it before the game came out. The fact that the game's developers are (very openly :p) British means that no matter what time of day it is there's a bunch of full 24- and 16-player servers along with assloads of 12 and 8 player servers.
My impressions: They did a great job of keeping the same gameplay as the original, making it even more complex (so many different weapons!), but the learning curve is a tad harder. Most servers still don't have non-hunting NPCs like the original had, but this works well in the big servers because you know that every person you see is a potential threat. In the original, it was funny to see people try to pass off as NPCs by walking slowly, turning quickly, and standing still for five minutes at a time. Weapons can be hard to come by, but this means that you have to spend a fair amount of time actually being careful instead of knowing that you can easily fend off an attack because you're packing an umbrella and know how to use it. Awesome game, well worth twenty bucks of your money.
I do miss the constant "Hello! Evening! Oh, Hello!" of the original though. :D
EDIT: Played with Megarust for a while tonight. :D
Has anyone got a link to the HL1 mod? It sounds tres funny! :D

Er, you have to make your charecter have fun and visit peoplee?
And a round usually lasts 30 minutes max(not sure about the ship, but other games) so why would you need to do any of the other things?

Anyway, I have to agree that it is an awesome game. I don't mean to brag, but I am pretty good at it :)

Yes, it is full of idiots. Lots of people follow people so the other person thinks you are their hunter, then once they kill you, they get a penalty.

Er, you have to make your charecter have fun and visit peoplee?
You can accomplish almost all of these things while you're walking around trying to find your target. It's not like the Sims. The original, on the other hand, required almost constant eating, drinking, and sleeping. You'll have to eat or drink once every three rounds or so (each round is not 30 minutes; it's usually no more than 5), and maybe sleep for ten seconds in between every other round, but this is mainly to keep the gameplay centered on more than just killing. Having to go to the bathroom occasionally leaves you *gasp* vulnerable from time to time.
