Will not start at all

launching prey does nothing at all no splash screen or nothing. I still look at my desktop and can move my mouse however i cannot do anything else. It pretty much locks up my system

i have nearly the same problem.
when i put the dvd into the dvd-drive (Plextor PX-716A) the monitor freezes - i cant move the mouse too.

I had the same freezing problem (with plextor px-716A) and after upgrading firmware, my system did not freeze after putting the disk in. I'm not sure if the problem was removed completely because i tried it only once since upgrading, but if you dont have 1.09 firmware, you should give it a try.
