So guys, was it worth it? After all these years, a great game but one that is really short? I dont know if I would bother playing it again, however may have some matches online but thats about it really.
Thing is the game is pretty damn good its just let down for it being damn short, the levels, the enemies everything was too short and small.
Am sorry to say but it doesnt feel or play like a game where developers have spent years and years making its still a great game but wish considering the costs for games these days and I am talking about the Xbox 360 version guys that parting with that cash is instant but the game costs the same as much as some peoples daily wages...
Anyways once I get my LE version will put it in a nice place, looking forward to PREY 2 now haha

You are completely right. The game is great, but it would be even greater if it was longer. I just beat singleplayer last night after about 7-8 hours of gameplay and now I am playing the whole game over on cherokee : D. This game was made to set up for the sequel, but it could have had more in it. Hopefully the next game will be longer, greater, and have better multiprey.

Absolutely, Yes!
We all ready know you're a bit of an instigator SuperSaian! :)
I don't even know why I bothered to answer your question...
But yes, the game was more than worth it. And it does make that wait for Prey 2 a lot longer!
Yep, got to agree on this. The game was good, but too short to really enjoy it. I barely got it into my memory before it was out again becouse it wasnt long at all :-/

Man, I don't even care how "short" it was, Prey was f-ing phenomenal. It delivered a full set of unique gameplay elements and a truly compelling story.
Seven to eight hours for an FPS is actually a decent length but word on the street about how short Prey was got out of control and people just kept yapping about it like they were talking about some important downfall of the game when in actuality they weren't, because Prey has more game packed into that seven hours than most FPS games have packed into their entire trilogies.
..What game did you play again? <.< Prey was good, the little time it lasted, no way as good as any other FPS game though really. It was more comical though I'll agree. I laughed more in Prey then I did in Doom and Quake4.

Thank christ someone else on this board has some common sense. I couldn't agree with you more.
I think the 'its too short' crew are like some secret organisation that comes out of hiding every time a new game is released. You can probably find posts by them on the 'Oblivion' forums if you look hard enough.
Same shit, different game. :brickwall:

Me too. I was kinda shocked that there is no health at all in Cherokee. But then again: there is always Deathwalk. ;)

yeah really i mean death walk is better then having to watch the load screens but it really made the game too easy mybe in the next game in sted of loading you do thsi death walk but.. you have to start from the last check point if they do that i garentee it that no one would complain how short the game is

Here's a good compromise to consider for deathwalk. If you die without a full blue bar vile then you go back to your last save point. If the bar is full, you can death walk to hold your position. So everytime you shoot an arrow your compromising your ability to deathwalk if you die, making the choice that much more important

This gives a new motivation for you to fulfill in game, spear somebody and, deplete your spirit health, increases your need to collect soul energy of your victims with normal kills so spirit walking is enabled when you die. Then the game increases the number of , what I call "Soul stealers" that can pop up to deplete spirit health in the midst of other intense battles making it a challenge to hold max spirit health that enables the death walk feature at death

It was worth it at the time, but in retrospection I should have waited till Prey hit the 29.99 price category.
I don't regret my decision to pre-order it though.

Well its all good, I did really enjoy it I mean the game gave me a laugh, a scare, a feeling of intense emotion what more could you ask for I guess, no game to date has given me all that in one.
The game on a gameplay and visuals represpective without thinking how short it is and the price its for sure a 9/10 ;)

Anyways once I get my LE version will put it in a nice place, looking forward to PREY 2 now haha Sorry to say it, but NO it wasn’t worth this long wait at all, it’s better to wait for this upcoming release of 3D Realms mega game: Duke Nukem Forever
And we shall hoping that they are avoiding the same mistake that Human head did with Prey.
Prey is a god and fine game but not god enough and not the quality we have aspect.
I have finish this game in 7.5 hours and its only 22 levels in this full release
It should at least have about 50 levels. I am disappointed on this release

Does anyone remember what the playing time for Duke Nukem 3D was? It's been such a long time. Hm, I wonder if it still runs on a modern machine. I could check the playing time myself and relive the nostalgia. :)

No, not worth it. The AI is stupid, just stupid. For how badass the game looks the AI ruins every aspect of the game for me. Woooweeee look at that cool monster standing in one spot shooting at me woooweeeee, boom headshot, its dead wooooweeee. Thats about all the game was. Cherokee is a ****ing joke too. It would have been great if they gave each monster some more advanced offensive and defensive manuevers. Instead of just standing in the same spot around the corner saying, "Hault! Stop Human! Hault!"
Multiplayer is fun though, weapons are innovative and just down right cool. Graphics are awesome, level design is badass.
This game = no challenge on any difficulty setting which is just really disappointing

No mention of puzzles. No mention of spirit walk. No mention of gravity play. No mention of Plot or character portrayal in the voice acting and the brilliant spots with Art Bell.
So you don't like the single player component because it is not an automated version of on line death match play, got it!
Well I don't like the on line component of ANY "fps" game because it is reduced to the mindless death match play.
So we have each got half of what we want. Have our conflicting tastes dictated this compromise upon the developers?

QFT. Online play = jumping around in a circle firing at people who are likewise jumping around in a circle firing at you. *snore*

It should at least have about 50 levels.
Oh should it now? who made you the Oracle of gaming wisdom?
I disagree completely. I think it was a tightly focused, finely tuned game that was EXACTLY the right length... because I know that if it was 50 bloody levels long that 20 of those levels would be padding to try and make it longer for bleating moanbags like you. For gods sake Doom 3 wasn't even 50 levels long and people still have tantrums about how boring it is because its 'too long'. Prey would have lost alot of its pacing and it wouldn't look anywhere near as nice because developing games these days takes alot longer than it did in the simple Quake3 engine days, they'd have had to cut corners to meet your 'oh so diligently researched' demands in their timeframe and those corners would have been gameplay and graphics.
I also know that if it was 50 levels long, you'd be first in line to bash it for being a boring game that you couldn't be bothered to complete. Deny that all you like but you know it, and I know it.

I've tried half a dozen times to get through Doom 3 and I always just get frustrated and quit playing after about the 300th time something teleports in behind me and rips me in half before I have time to turn around... or the 300th time a cutscene puts a big nasty thing 6 inches in front of my face and hands the controls back over to me just as he's beginning the process of eviscerating me.

lol. Yeah I love Doom 3. Found it genuinely unsettling. I was utterly immersed in it. Finished it 3 times myself. I kind of think it was a masterpiece and to this day I still cant understand why some people have such problems with it.

Prey was cool, but I honestly found it kinda... boring... The demo was interesting, but the full game didn't seem to me to add anything more, just the same stuff with a few small changes. For example, the cube puzzle was basically the same as the other gravity flipping puzzles, only instead of maneuvering yourself around a room, you were maneuvering a little glowing box thingy around a path. And all of the spirit walking puzzles seemed essentially the same/

I love Doom3 and still love it and also played it though a couple of times. It never left my harddisk in those 2 years (damn, time moves fast!) and in fact, I entered the Delta Labs again after leaving Hell, shortly before Prey was released. :)

How well designed was the entry to Delta Labs? The whole game you're expecting a real kicking when you finally reach Delta, knowing its where all the hell activity originates from, then for the first 20 minutes you're just scared shitless by the fact that absolutely nothing is happening. Pure genius after what you'd been through up to that point. Like I said, Doom 3 was a masterpiece.

People are complaining that Prey was not worth the money because it was short. The Replay value and Multiprey make up for it. I've been replaying SP for awhile now and I plan on playing MP soon (when I get better hardware, damn 10-20 FPS)
it was worth it, because it´s a masterpiece of gaming history
