Hello all. Well before I start I just want to say I am Dyslexic so sorry for any spelling lol ok I got prey about 2 days ago great game if I do say so my self but the problem I’m having is Graphic related or so I think, I cant post any screen shots to show you this Problem b/c in the screen shots look normal. So I’m going to have to describe it and good as I can. The game seems to be ok for a bit like 20 mins then I start to get theses problems.. first problem is when looking at your gun or weapons it seems to flicker like small blocks.. the second Problem I have had. is when u look at other Characters in the game like jen or Tommy’s Grandfather . They seem to have Jaggy point coming out of them. And I forgot to say it seems to be coming out of the Walls as well. Its like big lines in the game and other stuff as well I’m not sure what the problem is ? I have tried download new Drivers.. Tuning the Detail down in the game from high to low this still does not work.. The only other thing that I can think of is my Graphics card is damaged is some way bar that I’m not sure. Would like some Opinions on this

And my computer specs are

P4 Intel 3.6
1GB of ram
Geforce 6800 Ultra

It sounds like your video card is overheating. If it is overclocked, try turning that off.

If you havent run riva tuner or any other 3rd party app to overclock it then it wont be overclocked. The messed up images you describe are called "artifacts". This is caused by one of 3 things your graphics drivers have become corupted uninstall them completly re boot then re install the latest from nvidia site. Or its because you Graphics card is overheating ( open sys up while running and make sure fan on card is rotating properly and hasent stoped or slowed down. Also make sure there is good airflow in your case with enough fans) You could also go to your card advanced settings and check the temp of the card there. Thirdly your card may be about to fail. (try another card in pc)

Well I have had riva Tuner installed but did not touch anything on it then I uninstalled it that was about 6 months ago but I have done a full format on my computer and I’m sure if I did touch anything it still would have no Effect now that I have done a full format that was about 3 months ago. But I know I did not touch anything on it.. and for the Drivers I have downloaded the new drivers and tired but still the same after about 20mins to 30 mins it starts to do it again … had the computer opened today to have a look all fans are working fine.. and for the GPU Temperature it is mostly between 63c and 79c.. the reason I think its wired b/c in some games it works fine but in most games I get this problem like in Prey. Deamfall.Hitman and some others. but in Half life 2 it works fine.. but I do have a feeling that it might be the Graphics card
oh well I will keep trying to fix it but thx for the info on what I can try to

Do you have a house fan that you can point at your card?

I've tried that before and was able to extend the use of my card until I could buy a better cooler before. It turned out that I had a power supply fan stop working, and that caused the hot air to get stuck in my case.

Go the extra distance and install a water-cooling system throughout your PC! That would take care of any overheating problems. :D
