Just finished Prey this weekend and was totally blown away!
It's the nature of forum posts that they lean toward the negative, so I thought I'd post my feedback, almost all of which is positive!
What I liked:
- Best first 15 minutes of any game ever. (And I've played 100s!)
- The level of polish and attention to detail places Prey among the finest of PC games! Truly impressed with the quality.
- I actually exclaimed "that was totally ****ed up!" a second prior to Tommy! (You know the part!)
- Loved the hybrid alien slash native-american motif! (My fiance' is part Cherokee, so I got to tease her with "Hold on baby; gotta rescue my other Cherokee girl...", etc.)
- Humor-level for this type of game was spot-on.
- Really dug the sexiness sprinkled throughout. (Why is that absent from so many testosterone-fueled games? Isn't that what made Nukem so fun?)
- The artwork/design was simply stunning!
- Ending was wonderfully done! Very rewarding!
- Loved the incredibly large spaces!
- The weapons were a blast! (Badumbum!)
- I, for one, thought the game was the perfect length!
- Quicksaves happened at just the right time. The death mini-game that replaces reloads was excellent, and wonderfully handled on returning to the action!
- Art Bell!!!
- Fun w/gravity!
- Shuttles were a kickass addition. Liked the way they docked.
What I'd hope to see next time:
- Railings looked like they were designed/built on Earth. Alien-stuff should look more alien?
- Even more tentacle and creepy tissue usage. More gore is welcome too!
- Voice tracks sounded a little blown-out/overdriven on my Soundblaster XiFi for some reason. (Subtitles would have been nice.)
You guys really did a great job! You deserve to be proud!
Thanks for all the hard work!
