In the duke3d source code there's a scene that talks about duke getting his hand severed, makes sense now :D.

That sounds cool...
but I bet they take that weapon out...due to 'copying' the movie...people might complane/slander them for it...
I PERSONALY think it would be cool to shred up some pigcops face with that chainsaw!!!!!!! muahahahah!

i really didnt like army of darkness (to campy) but the first evil dead was the best.
why have a chainsaw weapon when aliens are shooting the shit out of you.
you have to get close to kill i doupt the bad guys will give you the ample time.

well....you could use it to chop down a tree! the tree falls...kills the enemy.
'chopping' or 'cutting' down trees was confirmed back in 2001, i think
...find the quote!

i dont like the idea of duke getting a hand cut off. i hope we do get up and personal with the alien targets but please dont sever dukes hand. what if he dont get friendly with the strippers? a chainsaw wouldnt help much then..

There's the earlier screenshot and you can see duke with his hand inside a chainsaw so either there is a handle and chainsaw controls in there or duke lost his hand :(

Still no saying if it will be in the final DNF.

I hope they release a beta from the 2001 version someday...
it was impressive that gameplay movie... it,s still nice to see even today...
one question to the 3Drealms staff?
Was the devastator inspired by the ,,groovy,, electric self-made steel hand of Army of darkness?

nope.
Micki!

It has already been stated once, that this weapon will not appear in DNF, thus, i don't think his hand will get severed... I remember this quote from a post by George...
All happy now..?

Not gonna happen. GB said so. There will be NO lame DNF of an old version of the engine.

I reckon the chainsaw reference to Evil Dead would have been really cool. But Micki! is right, George already stated some time ago that it would not be making an appearance in the current version of DNF. :(
Here's hoping the Devastator makes it though. That weapon was sick. http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/images/icons/devilish.gif

Correction: the Duke made those lines his own. The Evil Dead series and They Live just stole them from the Duke before DN3D came out.

Yeah, the devastator is one of the most kick ass weapons I have ever seen in a game.

the devastator is ok but its not that great. ran out of ammo to much and it took 2 shots to kill a pigcop.
a better version or something totally new ultimate weapon would be great.

Hell, they can just have both. The Devastator and some other all new powerful weapon. Then everyone will be happy. :)
With the devastator the flow kill is faster than with the RPG, so the devastator is teh ultimate weapon. But my favorite is RPG.

but it needs more ammo in it. it supposed to be the ULTIMATE weapon but after literally 2 secs its out of ammo. at least to 200 would satisfy everyone.
remember duke nukem is supposed to be the ULTIMATE ALIEN ASS-KICKER and why should his best wep have only 99 ammo. 200 is the max amount it should have to be the ULTIMATE ALIEN ASS-KICKER WEAPON.

Hey, otherwise it's overpowered and everyone would only use it for every enemies.

the rocket launcher was overpowered and it killed everything with 1 rocket (battlelord 5-6 and bosses 10-12) so ya thats overpowered to.
were talking about duke nukem not a wimpy guy, duke is the ultimate alien ass kicker. you go back to your limited ammo (99) while ill kill everything in sight.
