We all know that Max Payne "ownz, d00d", but there was one level that got at me. The Cold Steel foundry part, before you get to the lab. That drove me nucking futs!

So, what about you?

*note: This is not a thread to bitch and whine about the graphical errors. We're talking gameplay-wise. images/icons/wink.gif

I also didn't like Cold Steel before you got to the lab.

I actually liked the blood mazes. They're not hard at all.

Methinks...it was...um...I can't think of one I didn't like, actually.

Well....I hated them, probably because of this disability I have, y'know, having problems with wierd noises and Max's wife screaming and dying, and babies and blood trails and crap. But that's just me. images/icons/grin.gif

I too didn't really like the Cold Steel level all that much. It had some nice parts, but overall too much hi-tech and fire & smoke... The beginning of the Aesir building wasn't exceptional either, but OK. I had no problem with the blood mazes. I usually don't like that kind of stuff, but it fitted well and wasn't too long and hard.

When I played the nightmares in Hard Boiled, I suddenly started to like them! The blood trails aren't hard at all!
I find the two chapters that you're looking for Borris Dime very boring!

*raises hand* I also hate the blood mazes, or the whole dream stuff altogether. Like someone above said, the baby crying and all that is annoying too.

Mr(the dream worlds sorta remaind me of a diff game I like, "Silent Hill", the dream thing would have fit better in that game)Orange

those blood trails were 2 fukin hard, reminded me more of mega man or super mario then max payne jumping obstacles. and my least fav part, i liked the steel mill, wasnt hard, cept for the very end where u have to go back and, hell i cant even remember. and the restaurant on fire, that was a little nuts, cool none the less but it took me 2 damn long to find a few of the doors to escape the fire.

The Blood Mazes?

Looked more like he was walking on neurons to me?

Would be more fitting beings he's in his head right?

Also great metaphor for when he is high...jumping from neuron to neuron going lower and lower was bringing him down safely to reality.

Sure they weren't stoned when they made these levels? Carl Sagan came up with some of his best ideas when he was stoned on pot.

No level really sticks out in my mind as being annoying. The Nightmare levels, though, are the ones I skip now with a level selector when playing again. However, the 1st time around they were pretty cool. images/icons/smile.gif I especially liked the childrens blocks moving around and spelling D3AD as well as (in the 2nd nightmare) the humour when you entered that same room twice images/icons/wink.gif

The nightmare levels didn't quite fit the gameplay of the rest of the game, but I felt like they were refreshingly brilliant pieces of storytelling. I didn't much care for the Backstabbing Bastard level, part III chapter 4, that takes place in the parking lot. It just seemed very monotonous, with every parking level being roughly the same, each a little more difficult. It was too much like going around in circles--no real sense of progression.

I persoanlly really liked the blood maze levels,
they're a bit annoying but add something more than just shooting and finding stuff.
I also totally loved the fov effect (the way the walls are ........don't really know how to describe it,..... images/icons/smile.gif ), I liked that it's really dreamlike and claustrophobic, in fact it totally reminded me off this old game I used to play on the amiga called (funnily enough) Wierd Dreams,
hehe I loved that game....back when games we're still imaginative images/icons/wink.gif .
Anyway I'm going off topic, I just remembered that game. images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah though it really did it for me and I thought it was a well executed bit of the game.

ALso the BB level, even though it's the most simple level. (hehe pure ctrl+c - ctrl+v images/icons/smile.gif )
but really I thought it was one of the best levels for the game.
I'm making some levels at the moment and am concentrating on action as this is what the game is supposed to do.
I think this is one of the best levels for action.
Stuff like the exploding cars, the ai paths, the shooting out the car.
It was really good IMO, I'm really trying to make my levs like that.
Just all out, lots of planned action.
I'd be interested in how many more of you don't like the BB level, and why.
That and the rooftops are 2 of my favs.
I like most of the levels though, but prefer the ones with more cinematics and planned action.
Each level has it's own cool stuff though. images/icons/wink.gif

Boring level design with boring enemies. I don't see why some of you dislkied the Cold Steel levels, the level layout for these levels is fairly interesting and those commando-like guys are cool to gun down images/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, the Borris Dime chapters are simply walking around crates.
