Anyone else seen this? I just saw it yesterday and it was quite funny. I don't think it's getting a release anywhere outside Canada, which makes a certain amount of sense as you pretty much need to be Canadian to "get it". It's a comedy about an Ontario cop and Quebec cop who are forced to work together on a serial killer case. It gets into the whole French/English debate that has been going on in Canada forever, but does it in a really funny way. The thing that's very unique about it is that roughly half the film is spoken in English and half in French, and you'll get subtitles for one language or the other depending on which theatre you go and see it in (a French theatre or an English one). They play on the two languages quite a bit, and that's really what the amazing charm of the movie is. My French is pretty weak, and I thought it was pretty hilarious.

Anyway, I think it's a great flick for any Canadian (French or English) to see, as long as you're not put off by a little gratuitous (although quite tongue-in-cheek) violence, and a LOT of swearing (there's one conversation between the two cops where they compare the way people swear in French vs. how they do in English while they're stuffing a criminal in the trunk of their car, and it's absolutely hilarious).

Definitely worth a look for all the Canucks on this site. http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/images/icons/icon14.gif

I'm going to see it tomorrow. I saw the trailer and it looks like a good movie (although not competing with SoaP)

PS: Calisse de tabarnak.. o/

Yeah, I really want to see this :D I saw a trailer awhile back in theatres and it looked pretty funny. I'm probably going to wait for a DVD release though, its not really something I would need to see in a theatre.

Well, ended up going yeaturday real late with my ex and my gf (don't ask) and it turned out really good (the movie). There was good comedy, action and some nasty parts. But after seeing it, I guess it is a Quebec production, as there are a lot of famous Quebec artists in there. Pierre Lebeau is just awesome, he made me joke on my coke. I also happen to know that Mathieu (or Mathiew or whatever), ballet dancer. I knew his sister for a long while. I'll be sure to tell him to be less of a fag.

All in all, it was pretty good. :)

They are releasing it in Russia, not sure how it's going to work (i.e. subtitles and language), but we'll see. :)

I was allowed to go to the premier...but turned it down. Still have the ticket.

I had no clue what it was.

Guess I have to see it now.

I really can't see how it would work at all, even if you did speak one of the languages (and if you didn't, no chance whatsoever). I think it's too uniquely Canadian to be appreciated anywhere else. It would be interesting to hear the perspective of someone from Russia on it. I suspect that at best they'd find it to be a rather low budget action movie. More likely they'd just think it sucked. :)
