I already have quake 4,prey,cod2 and oblivion for the pc.(prefer mouse/keyboard for this genre)
What are some other must haves?
I need a racing game,i was thinking waiting for test drive unlimited to be released.
However i never played the series.

Racing? Hmm.. Maybe PGR3? I never tryed it.
Anyway, must-haves: (and a reason for)
Chromehounds - Untill MechAssault works on the 360. I hear it has good MP too, but my XBox Live expired as soon a sI got it
The Outfit - Finally, a WWII game that isnt an FPS. This is probably the only third person game I enjoyed. Arguably the best MP game (SP is a bit repetitive) on the 360.
Kameo: Elements of Power - Its pretty fun, if you're into those types of games.
Lost Planet - It looked interesting, I didnt play through the demo yet
Avoid PDZ at all costs.
Try some demos (if you have XBox Live [Silver is fine] set up)
Some XBL Arcade goodies:
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved
The actuall arcade games (Pac-Man, Galaga, etc) if you liked them before.

360 doesn't really have any must haves yet. Dead rising is pretty close though.
Lost planet demo is fun but frankly I think the demo will do most people :)

No must-haves so far, but Hitman Blood Money is a great game. The Outfit is cool too, Perfect Dark Zero is okay but not nearly as good as the original PD. I've heard Condemned: Criminal Origins looks good, I'm trying the demo soon. I can't give it an opinion though because I haven't played it yet.

I agree that there are no must haves out yet for the 360. It's the rare game I would call a "must have". Most systems get maybe 5 or 6 of them in their lifecycle.
COD2 is a great game, as is Oblivion. Dead Rising could have been had it not been for the save system. Advanced Warfighter is good if you're into that type of shooter. I'm betting on Gears of War to be the first must have, and of course Halo 3 is coming in 2007.

Condemned was ok first time round. NO replayability at all, don't get it if ur looking for value... PGR3 is awesome and if u love racing its got it all. I love the F50 GT! Anyways I suggest checking reviews and screenshots to help u make a decision. I'm completely over shooting games. I liked oblivion. The next game I'm getting is fight night round 3. That to me is a must have! Enjoy...

Oh god, I would have skipped the 360 for a while and got DSL.. tis not 1996 anymore man :o
Dead Rising is the only one that comes to mind.
All the others aren't really must-haves. But if you see these cheap, by all means, swipe 'em up:
Full Auto
Perfect Dark Zero
Kameo

I have a partially off topic question. Do you need to pay monthly for xbox live no matter what or is it free if you plug it into your existing broadband connection?

I don't have a 360, but I think it goes like this:
You need a broadband connection to connect to Xbox Live (XBL). The payment you need to pay Microsoft is for the XBL online account and service.
With the Xbox360 you get a free "SILVER" account, which allows you to download all kinds of extras, demos, song, themes, etc. From Xbox Live, but you can't play online. To play online you need to pay monthly or annually for a "GOLD" account (Which, I think, is about a price of a game, maybe a bit more).
I also think that you get a few free months to try a gold account when buying a 360.

Damn, it just seems so pointless to me that seeing as my provider is the one thats... providing - why should I be paying them?
Anywho just orded a premium 360 aswell as dead rising and saints row, both of which look friggin fantastic!

Just played played some "Lost Planet" multiplay at TGS, it was pretty damn good. I was going to buy it anyway for the single player game, but Capcom have done a great job with the online component. DOAX2 was fun, but not a game I would pay full price for.... Sonic the Hedgehog was fun too, it looked great, but was pretty hard.
Other games that looked interesting were Tenchu Senran and Riot Act.

Must haves. NHL-07 and Madden-07 are awesome. Multiplayer for both of these games is a riot if your into sports games.
Shooters should be PC only but your dreaming if you think that consoles aren't killing all of PC gaming. IT IS HAPPENING FOLKS! :(

Not much, but MS is keeping it, somewhat, half alive.

That Lost Planet game looks incredible, just might be the game to convince me to buy a 360.
