You have to type 'login', then your name, then 'portal' and then rely on your knowledge.

You might want to try it yourself before reading this...

None of the questions really matter. Just answer with whatever you like. Don't need to memorise the code they give you; it changes ever so slightly. Even if you enter it correctly, it'll say it's incorrect. Just press enter at that point. You've reached the end when you get to the security cam.

Has anyone else noticed that certain letter's in some questions fade in and out. ;)

I don't think I got it all... but I did get this much...

the cake is a lie

Also at one point I saw...

a cake flash on the right side of my monitor, these people like cake.

I can't get past the part where asks if I read and agree with what is stated above. Page 27, BTW. I put continue, yes and other words but to no avail.

Is this supposed to ask for input ? All I get is a ">" that is it. There is no text.

Yes, you give input to the system by placing your cursor next to > and writing stuff.

From what I read, Valve does type of things to give special screenshots and concept art to those who figure out these stuff.

I may be very far out on this, but I think the place the portal game will be in is actually black mesa in the time of hl2, the outside of BM could actually be really cold, hence the arctic base. the portal gun is probobly the artifact. In portal, you wake up in the relaxation chamber only to remember nothing and to have a portal gun with you.

PS: "animal malfunction" may mean that a headcrab got in the system :D

But Black Mesa was in New Mexico.

which is why it's way off since black mesa is there... if gearbox actually had the go-ahead on putting a bomb in the story during opfor, then this place might be cold because of nuclear clouds...

I'm paranoid.

But nuclear winter wouldn't cause it to snow. Especially for over than 10 years.

Yep, Nuclear winter would be ash and smoke. Not actual snow.

The more I see episodic gaming in action, the more I think we are paying for mods. Portal is no exception.

Portal is a puzzle based SP experience. What's shown there is a basic multiplayer test from which they hope to build some sort of portal based multiplayer game.

Apples and oranges.

Or you could play narbacular drop . Of course Portal is given a level of polish these projects never had and well. Where do you draw the line on what's "just a mod"?

And of course your comment makes even less sence since portal isn't what you're paying for. It's just a bonus to Episode 2 so I guess if you want portal and not episode 2 you are paying simply for "mods".

You missed the point entirely. Why not just use the portal wrench with Prey? Portal is a puzzle SP game, this is just some guy inserting portals into HL2DM. Also - who's buying Ep2 for portal?

You should know already that facts do not get in Draz's way when he is bashing Valve.

You are all missing MY point. They are selling a very simple MOD! And a rip-off mod at that! Because they make it a puzzle means squat. Crooks!

So what are you objecting to? The fact that they're selling a game based on the Source engine? The fact the game doesn't look like it will be worth the money, to you? The fact that the Portal team is making money off a year of their own hard work, when they should be doing it for free? The fact that in a hypothetical situation of your own devising, 10 professionals could have spent a year creating the exact content contained in Portal and released it for free?

The simple fact is that the challenges present in Portal haven't been seen in any other game, ever - it's a completely unique experience. I see no reason why Valve shouldn't be able to charge users something for that experience.

LOL! Paying for a mod and getting portal for free is not my idea of a bargain. :)

Reminds me of the Al Bundy comment "Today I made nothing but tomorrow I'll make twice as much!". Twice nothing is still nothing.

Fine , then answer my question: have you or have you not ever purchased an expansion? Those are close to full price, and you are getting the episodes for much less, and togther you will get more playtime out of them.

So - whats the difference?

So Valve could bundle an infinite amount of episodes and it wouldn't matter. Oh dear.

Draz's argument is quite humorous seeing how I can't install the Doom 3 expansion, but I have to run it as a mod.
Seriously, I had to copy over the folder and go to the mod menu if I want to play it.
The installer isn't compatable with XP 64.

And what is this "mod" ripping off you nitwit? You seem to be missing OUR point which I'm sorry for you comes from the real world. An original game (albiet the spiritual sucessor to narbacular drop) with professional polish as an addition to the purchase of a A grade game is nothing to scoff at. In fac tit is pretty damn awesome. Without Valves funding and support this product wouldn't exist.
