Adverts as in advertisments placed in the game>?>?
I dont think THAT would happen. Im sure everything will be cola in stead of coke...etc. and they'd just use made up names instead of ASKING the big wig companies to let them use thier logo in game...
I dont know?
I think he means adverts for the game, like the ones they stick in games mags.

I dont know, lets just wait and see.
Haha, reminds me of a Prey billboard I saw in a railway station in London (what's that railway service called again?).. I totally didn't expect that :D
Anyhoo, the game cover will do - as long as it has a cool tagline.

I like the pig cop flying with duke behind him saying "I'm Back" reminince of DN2. Or a poker game or something of that sort, with Duke saying always bet on Duke, you didn't listen fools.

For a magazine:
Just have a black page with the letters, "DNF" on it. Not Big.
That would be a month before media or news is released.
I remember Quake 3 beeing advertised and I saw the Quake symbol and I was like, "Holy $h!t!". It was just the symbol. But you knew what it was.

I´m not so sure if so many people will recognize "DNF"...
Actually Valve did something similar with HL2 (the crowbar thing) and it worked, but HL is well known anyway.

Or just put a It's Done on a Black Page. and a dark nuclear symbol molded in the background.
or anything related with WID. Im pretty sure every single gamer on earth knows of the WID.

A nuclear logo embedded in a steel plate, below it When It's Done, with the When all shot up :)
Simple and straightforward!

way back in 1898...eeeeh.. I mean, 1998 (not dukes grandfather), there was this infamous DNF trailer based on the quake2 engine.
the start epilog was something like...
"tired of shooting crap?"
"looking for the real dead?"
"allways bet on duke!"
I just love this stuff, cause frankly YES I AM TIRED OF SHOOTING CRAP!
For a TV add.. Hmmm... I'd like to make a taiser and not give away tooo much info. first of all a dark background showing white text: "for so long fans been waiting...", the words slowly fade to darkness...
Then a nuke detonates (nice 3d animation).
camera slowly zooms aways from the darkness revealing cool 80's style shades, with the nuke fireball being refected. zooming out a bit more revealing blond hear, ears and some other parts of dukes face.
Then the screen suddenly gets dark again, showing the 3drealms logo and the phrase "It's done".
I'm sure it would cause some nice reactions when some die hard fans see something like this the first time for YEARS on TV.
Bursting out in tears "It can't be... I don't believe it!"
I love to dream, don't you? haha
"for so long fans been waiting...",
That sounds a bit lame, in a way. Don't know why, it just does.

10 screenshots
then a teaser trailer
then a gameplay video of 2 disparate locations
and a final trailer
seriously

hmm... maybe "We've been waiting for so long..."? Or... "The time has come"?
ooooor you could drop in st. johns voice in there first with a funky 1 liner.
"I've got a little surprise for ya!", then the nuke and so on :D

This would be my idea to a "T".
How about a picture of Duke lying in bed with his alarm clock going off with the thought bubble 'Shit I'm late!!!' above his head.

Well, this way people will confuse DNF with both S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Fallout 3. :dopefish:

I wonder if subliminal advertising can legally be put into a game.

The more subtle, the better... something that seems vague at first until it hits you over the head and you realize what it is.
