for all yall guitar hero players, how long does it take for you to learn a song on the highest level? and for all you guitar players, how long does it take for you to learn the same song on guitar
I started learning iron man, so I'd like to see some comparison.

Guitar Hero is nothing like real guitar. The amount of time it takes to learn a song on guitar varies with your skill and experience. For me personally it can take anywhere from five to twenty minutes.

Guitar hero I find harder than real guitar cause everything is kind arbitrary. It sounds good but I can't really feel what something is going to be before they show me. Still awesome game though. but deffinatly just a game, nothing like guitar.

Yeah, what they said. Guitar Hero is to guitar playing what Konga Bongo is to playing drums on a full kit, or what playing an FPS is to shooting an actual weapon.

I do realise the obvious flaws on my analogy, but I still stand my comment, since a lot of people seem to think its extremely difficult (search guitar hero on youtube) and I just wanted a fair comparison.
Also, (and this is critical, I HAVE NOT) played guitar hero, but I did think (before picking up the guitar) that "damn, these people are willing to practice and train to play a song on this game, and its probably a similar effort to learn that stuff on guitar". It wasn't the reason to pick it up, but it was an inspirational factor.
i've always wanted to play guitar hero but don't own a ps2 :(
these party games coming out for it lately look like alot of fun :D

So another question... if you're good at guitarplaying, are you the master at Guitar Hero as well?
I'm kinda curious really :)

I read a comedy review about it. No, it doesn't.

I am 100% positive I'm better at solos in Guitar Hero.

No, because playing Guitar Hero is nothing like playing a real guitar.

Well, there's always Frets on Fire (http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/uv/fretsonfire/).

I give full credit to GH makers. They've captured a bit of the spirit of playing a real guitar in GH. Things like pull-offs and chords feel somewhat similar, and if you've played guitar a while, you will have no problem picking up GH and making good progress.
Which is more difficult? I think it depends on your skill level. I've played guitar for more than 15 years. It's easier for me to learn a song on guitar. The main reason is Guitar Hero demands a degree of precision that isn't necessary on a regular guitar.
It's the fundamental difference between making music and synchronizing finger movements to audio/visual stimulation. You can do a lot to cover mistakes on guitar, including tempo missteps or note problems. In GH all you can do is try to hit the next note.
My biggest problem with GH is trying to go too fast. So, if I have a run of notes and double pick it (as I always do because I can't seem to quite get the pull-off timing) then if I miss, then each extra note I miss hurts even more.
You're not going to learn to play guitar by playing Guitar Hero, but you'll learn to appreciate guitar, that's for sure.
Beating GH on expert wasn't easy. I started going back and getting 5-star performances on expert as well, but I just have too much other stuff to do to finish it. I think I got as far as Sharp-Dressed Man with the 5-star shows.
Can't wait for GH2.

i never tried the game, but on a regular guitar you got like 6 strings, 22 frets + open notes wich results in oh... about 138 notes, as opposed to what, 4 buttons?
do you get bonus points for scoring GH groupies or smashing your equipment?

5 buttons!
No. But you do get bonus points for turning the guitar vertically and rocking out! I do wich they'd make a break away version so I can smash it though.
