Who plays Quake 1 and/or Quake 2?

I still play the original Quake sometimes, for 'old times' sake. I never really liked Quake 2, not even when it was just out.

Quake 2 here. Quake 1 had terrible animation and bland weapons and gameplay. Quake 2 had much better levels, monsters, and gameplay. Even the sound was more interesting.

Have you seen Quake 1 with animation interpolation? Much better.

Well, I've pretty much moved on from the DM-style gameplay. I prefer team orientated games more like CS or TFC.

Graphically updated or not, they're not very entertaining.

I just re-installed Quake 2 a few days back, I never finished this game, despite many tries!

Today I finally did!

I didn't like it though, every level looked nearly identical, only difference from Quake 1 was that you mostly had more colours than just brown... mostly.

Got them both installed, but only rarely dip into them to check out the advanced graphics of the fan-made versions of the program (e.g. DarkPlaces). Never really sit down and play them through any more... maybe I should do my old thing of putting a Bee Gees CD into the drive when I play Quake 1, and listening to them as level music :p

As I mentioned in another thread, I can't play the first game without trying to get almost every monster to fight another monster -- it saves on ammo but wastes a hell of a lot of time... and d'you know, the only monster that can kill a zombie is a shambler? (Rips 'em apart!)

I still play Quake 2 deathmatch with a friend, every once in a while... still just as fun as it ever was.

I'd probably still be playing the single player too, except I've already completed it so many times by now that all the old levels almost seem like real life memories. :o ;)
