Dear Double Fine-
I have already purchased several copies of Psychonauts, but I would like to buy more. The problem is I am tired of walking into a store to buy your excellent game, because, what is this? The 1800s? A STORE? I'm sorry, but my dinosaur has the the bubonic plague, and can not give me a ride to your STORE. Nor can he travel back in time to a year where stores were still viable means of selling products. Also, if I buy something in your store it will most likely be made of solid matter which I will have to carry home on my back. Do I look like a burro to you? And do I look like I want to handle filthy, disgusting money in order to purchase the games I want? (Have you ever put a $20 bill under a microscope? It's like a magic carpet ride for E. coli.) Also, if there is an earthquake, your store might fall on top of me. And even if that doesn't happen, I know that there will be strangers in your store--cruel teenagers, maybe--who will pass judgment on my shopping choices.
For this, and many other reasons, I am tired of buying Psychonauts in stores, like a dirty, stupid caveman.
Here is what I want: I want to sit in my house, possibly in my pajamas, or in nothing at all. And I want the Excellent Game Psychonauts to come to me, moving no solid matter whatsoever. I want information describing every aspect of Psychonauts to enter my home, purely as a coded wave of changing properties, whereupon I will use a machine to transform that information into the greatest interactive experience that civilized man has ever known. That is what I want and if you tell me I cannot have it then I shall end my life this very moment!!!
Sincerely,
The Entire, Worldwide Gaming Public
:)
I have to aggre thought.
I must also add that games over Steam are more cheaper then in the store. Can make a difference when you have a tight budget.
Ooh I'll definitely get Psychonauts then.. been wanting to get that and this is the best chance for me to get it.

See now I can't understand this, why didn't you buy it before? I don't understand why just because it is on steam people leap for it. Personally I prefer my games offline, but thats just me.
Also I like the second news item :D

Most excellent. I've been yearning to play Psychonauts. But I couldn't, since there were about 10 copies of the PC version available worldwide.

Steam Psychonauts FTW! Go to a friend... fire up STEAM on your account and introduce them to the game! They make an account and buy it. :woot:

Great link man. Will get the game from there. I like retail boxes and manuals etc too, not to mention my total dislike for Steam and such other services. When I drive with my car to go to the nearest EB Games store to get a new game, feels to me like an adventure - Like a hunter going to hunt down its victim from available choices . Man nothing like walking in a big games shop, and looking everywhere and there are just games and games and games. Feels absolutely awsome. Absolutely love that feeling.

Oh I'm the same really.. I'd prefer to have a copy on DVD but to be honest I could never find a copy on the PC.. it was always on console.
I just came to the conclusion that it wasn't available on PC over here. Of course it was but it was hard to find.

Oh well that I can understand. Its this reason why going to steam isn't such a bad idea.
Paroxysm - I would love that signed copy, but I already bought the game. :o I'm not sure if it would be worth shelling out all that money + shipping just for a signature (well and a DVD case/version...). Maybe if the site knocks the price down. After all I did get the game very cheap in stores.

Actually this is one area I wish Valve would push Steam for, old unsold games. They could really do well if they resold games that are remastered and work 100% via steam.

I sortof feel like an ass... they had about 10+ copies of Psychonauts here and I never picked one up. Once I decided I would... they were all gone. :D
But, I'm still going to buy it retail... nothign against Steam. I love the program... I just love boxes.

Still yet to pickup Psychonauts, as it did get some impressive reviews since it was out of the norm. Was interested to play it, but haven't seen it anywhere in stores. I really want a hard copy for my games, even though it being available through Steam will be good for a lot of gamers and the developers too. :)

Well not "worst", I didn't think it was that bad. :) Though it sure as hell isn't the most interesting world. Imagine if the demo was the Milkman level? I bet people wouldn't have hesitated to get the game. :D Although I wouldn't have wanted that spoiled for me....so..

Now that I find very surprising. Honestly made me sit back and think "wow". Would be very nice if they added older Activision games, some Quake based expansions and mission packs.
Have to wait and see what is released through Steam... I alreayd have all the CoD games so... ;)

Wow this is pretty damn big Steam and therby Valve. I wonder what id's various contracts with Activision say about online distribution.
One would ting that id has reserved all those rights just like 3D Realms and Valve have in their publishing agreements.
However it is almost a given that Activision and id would have to share the revenue on Quake 4 if that gets put on Steam since Activision owns Raven.
But wheter or not Activision can lead or inspire id to do the same this is stil a pretty big thing.
But it certainly contradicts what their CEO has said previously (http://dukenukem.typepad.com/game_matters/2006/06/activisions_ceo.html).

Now that I think about it, I doubt I'll be able to use my old keys from CoD, UO and CoD 2 since those games were bought from Activision so why would Valve let me use the bandwith that never was in the game's price. :(

Well, when Steam first came out, Valve let anyone download their entire catalogue if they had a single CD-Key from any of their products. I'm fairly certain you'll be able to do something similar. Steam has bandwidth to spare nowadays.

I think Steam is good for less known games as this gives them a chance to be seen by a lot more people.
However, I do not appreciate Activision signing up with Steam. I don't really like Steam a lot, I accept it for less known games as I want the developers to be successful if the games are good. Activision games normally sell well enough in the retail market and I prefer not having to have a program running in the background in order to be allowed to play my games.

Hasn't happned so far, and I don't see it happening either. There's no way a company would make thier product entirely reliable on a system they don't own.

With the Bloodrayne games now on Steam I got curious and tried the demos for both. I really enjoyed the demo for the first one, loved it actualy. And BR2 demo was pretty fun, I like the combat... but the camera took some getting used to.
Now, my question, are the games worth getting? People here that have actualy played them I'm curious about opinions... positives and negatives.
I've read reviews but I trust reviews about as much as I trust a crank addict with an butcher knife and a helpless kitten.

Oh gosh, how I've tried to forget those games. I've succeded... with only bits of evil still left over.
Games are going on Steam. Basicly, when the world ends, you're going to end up with a black hole that turns games and people into water.
