View Full Version : Zelda TP Wii version - control issues?

I really hope the latest videos posted yesterday at IGN are not an indication of the intuitiveness of the controls for this game. It looks like it's either got camera issues, or the player playing it really sucks (hopefully the latter). Link keeps looking away from his enemy, and there seem to be a lot of pauses while the player is apparently trying to figure out how to do something. It also seems to have a little overkill on the context-sensitive controls used so effectively in RE4.

I'm reserving judgement, because these are obviously short and can't be taken as the whole story, but they certainly aren't great marketing videos for the new "highly intuitive" Wii controls, or this game.

Actually people have complained that sword swinging doesn't mimmic you entirely, making a chop motion sometimes causes Link to slice for example. I wonder if this is user idiocy or whether the game just wasn't meant to be ported to the Wii rather than the GC version.

GC all the way man! I mean, i really don't like the idea of having this kind of control method on a game like Zelda.... it doesn't make sense in my mind.

My concern would be that in waiting an extra year to release it (just so they could use it to sell their new console) they may have screwed up the GC version. Unlikely though I suppose, as I suspect it was ready to ship almost a year ago. I'd laugh if it got rated 9 and above for the GC version and the Wii version got crapped on for the controls.

I've heard that the sword swinging is intuitive, but the hookshot/bow stuff is oversensitive.

Perhaps they should just bundle the GC control scheme in there? I am quite concerned about the Wii control scheme. Or maybe they could toss in a rebate on Zelda GC.
