View Full Version : Is it possible to get real shadows in Max Payne?

I've just upgraded my comp and noticed (for the 1st time) that in 3dMark2K1 there are real (vertex?) shadows running in the 'matrix' parts on high detail.

I'm wondering if it's possible to enable the same for MP? I understand that it'd probably be a system killer due to the use of so many different light sources, but it'd be fun to try anyway. images/icons/smile.gif

Just for the record, I thought MP was stunning on my old PIII600, GeForce1 system but on a GF3Ti and Athlon1600+ system the graphics are just mind blowingly gorgeous! When I play it now I get an erection images/icons/wink.gif Real shadows (especially if they are as cool as the ones in Undying.... the best to date in a PC game!) would probably make me spurt images/icons/wink.gif

It cannot be "enabled" because the feature isn't there. What you saw in 3DMark 2001 was custom code created by the MadOnion programmers and bolted onto Max-FX, optimized to work in 3DMark 2001 scenes but not in full-scale games.

Glad to hear you're still impressed though. Just make sure you play with the mouse and keyboard, not your joystick, because Max Payne doesn't support the latter. images/icons/wink.gif

Okey-Dokey images/icons/smile.gif 'Tis a shame though, to be sure to be sure.

As for the joystick, I make sure that I only use it during the graphic novel scenes. images/icons/smile.gif
