Hey all. I've quit SETI@home, because with the new versions my poor PC chugged for two months and only finished about 10% of a data unit. I've switched to distributed.net, where I actually complete workunits, because they're much smaller. There's a Dopefish team there, too, but it's really suffering. Lend your support here:

Damn, you must have one hell of a slow PC.

That might be a bit of an exaggeration; I forgot the exact time and percentage. But it's still pretty damn slow. It's a 150MHz IDT WinChip C6, in case you were wondering.

Oh, and in case you're wondering who the heck I am, I'm the founder of the Dopefish SETI@home team that was mentioned here a while back.

I'm trying to keep my PCs shut down most of the time to fight my internet addiction, but I've been running distributed.net since mid-late '98. Someone here (possibly Stingray) posted about distributed.net way back then, though I don't think there was a Dopefish team back then.
I just joined, but my buffers are empty right now, in case I don't show up until I submit blocks.

You're probably thinking of Scyth, who founded Team Dopefish on d.net.

I'm in, but only on the OGR-25 stats (http://stats.distributed.net/ogr-25/tmsummary.php3?team=17206) so far. http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif

That's no good! http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif You can turn it off by setting your fetch work priority to "DEC,CSC,OGR:0,RC5".

I just found out something that sucks...
I noticed that the Clients page went back to listing 463b as the current client. http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/confused.gif
I checked out some .plans, and found out that the 465 and 466 clients got pulled (some sort of RC5 bug http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif ). 463b from last summer is now again the latest non-beta client. http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif
At some point, users are no longer going to receive credit for RC5 blocks from these clients. http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif
There is also now a stats backlog, since the big teams are dumping all their RC5 blocks en masse to make sure they get credit for them. http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif
Oh well, sh!t happens, I guess... http://www.3drealms.com/ubb/images/icons/smile.gif
