View Full Version : What happened to the guns?

Hey,
watching old E3 vids and getting nostalgia, I watched the 2000 German one for MP. In one shot, Max is shooting a Deagle. In the game now, the Deagle is shiny and chromed. Sure, that's nice, but a Deagle doesn't look like that. The one in the vid was how it REALLY looks. Why was it changed?
Also, something about Berettas and their use in the game: In almost all of the videos (except the one for this year), Max is holding dual Berettas but only shooting the one in his right hand. In the German one, he shootdodged and shot some thug with just one Beretta, but he was holding two. Why can't this be done in the game? Personally, I liked it like that. It's much more action movie-esque. In The Killer, he held dual Berettas but only used one.

Geez, biXen, what are you, stupid??!!! No Desert Eagle is matte black or shiny silver chrome, unless you had it custom custom made. And there's only four MAIN Deagles: the .44, the .357, the .41 AE, and the .50 AE. Of COURSE there's "many" if you count all the specialized ones! And if you go like that, then there's "many" of ANY kind of gun!!!
(I'm honestly sorry if all my posts I've made today seem irrational and angry... especially in the "good to be home" thread...but geez! Getting screwed over time and time again is a sure way to piss a man off! And of course, there's these stupid punks on my school bus that throw shit at me. I'll throw it back, throw it out the window, flick them off, etc. And then I faced them, and one of these idiots was like, "Yo, Ah think you'd bettah tuhn awound so Ah cahn smack you up." IDIOTS!!!!! God, I suffer so much... images/icons/frown.gif )

Yeah, but there's no CHROME to it!!!!
And those are specialized Deagles, with different frame jobs... I already acknowledged that THOSE exist... but the regular Israeli Army issue ones, for example, don't look like that.

Well, Max Payne isn't exactly a regular Israeli soldier either...

There are many Desert Eagles, one of them looks like the one in Max Payne. Many of them are mostly black, some are very matte and so on... makes no difference really. He shot with one gun because two gun shooting wasn't implemented at that time I think...

Dude, check out the Magnum website. You can get them direct from Magnum in a whole heap of colours, even gold.
And I haven't heard of the .41, are you sure you don't mean .440 CorBin?

1stly the most commonly found DE is the .44 Magnum variant. This is normally found in Matte Black. Reason - It was never designed as a self defence or army issue, but as a hunting pistol
The chambered one in MP in the .357. This was a designed for the gun club/private collector. And most private guns are chrome/nikel. This is because they look better. I have seen many of these and i know that a club shooter prefers chrome to matte black. I know i do.
3rd and finally. There are more than just 4/5 "normal" DE. There are 10 to my knowledge. There are 4 different CHAMBERS, but there are styles that are different. Like;
a Desert Eagle .44 XXII or XXIII i think, i cant remember, it has a curved front to the trigger guard, this is for 2 handed shooting.
a .50AE normally comes with an 8" barrel, it sticks out the end. It is more acurate. But u can get the ones with the 6" barrel.
There are a lot of MODIFICATIONS BUT there are 10 different styles to the chambers.

Mr. T, how can you tell that it's a .357 in Max Payne? if so it should only be 9 rounds.

You didn't notice that all the guns (almost) have extended ammo, did you?

My humble two cents------->Guns that have a big "boom" and look cool are the only important things here...
We don't work for Soldier of Fortune magazine m'kay. We play games. Who gives a S*** if the guns have more rounds or don't do as much damage as their real life counterparts? I mean, don't you guys just love blasting thugs in slo-mo? I wouldn't really care if it was Benelli or a Spas...a Beretta or a Glock.....a PSG-1 or a Dragunov. I only care if it sounds sweet, does "effective" damage and looks good...all else is just fluff.

I agree wholeheartedly... I believe there's a fine line between realism and fun. Remedy found it. Now I don't like techy weapons, so you can forget games like Serious Sam and stuff for me, but pretty much realistic looking weapons with cool characteristics, at least BASED on reality will do. Nitpicking is stupid, you could nitpick on every damn movie out there too, what's the point, they do it cause it's cool. The best example is Tie Fighters in star wars, now how could would it be if they buzzed by without making any sound? images/icons/tongue.gif

I fully intend to as soon as I have some free time and a bullhorn. images/icons/grin.gif
Personally, I don't care too much about how many rounds are in each clip for a game like MP, I think it's realistic enough for what Remedy was going for. However, it's not really something I mind discussing on the forum, and I really don't consider it nitpicking. If you do biXen, my suggestion is that you tolerate it a little more, in this instance it's fairly harmless.
BTW I think no sound in space would be much better. It worked well in 2001 and, I'm told, Mission to Mars.

Well, duh! I was TALKING about there being four different chambers. I've already acknowledged variants and collector's models.
And there are dozens and dozens of Glocks, but only about six "normal" ones, if you get what I'm saying. Customized, extended rate of fire, smaller or larger size, and more rounds don't count. I'm talking about chambers again.

Oh, and I am NOT German. Just because I was forced (military family, duh!) to live in the hellhole that is Germany for about 12 of the 16 years I've been alive, I am NOT German.
