Ive seen a couple people give marble floors semi reflective finishes and I'd like to be able to do it with some of the floors in my map. Do I need the hrp to do this? Im building with mapster and I have eduke32, but no hrp. TY

Maps that have semi-reflective floors just have the room duplicated underneath where the floor would be and several translucent sprites over it for the player to stand on.

Yeah what he says, Its just fancy sprite work, but you cant reflect any thing else but the actual room

ahhh I see, similar to the concept of mirrors. Im not familiar with creating actual rooms over rooms yet so I have some questions. I have on the other hand created rooms over rooms with sprites. Terminex when you said that the rooms are divided by sprites does this mean that this is actually one room made to look as two, rather than a genuine room over room therefore making the sprite floor the midpoint between the floor and ceiling? The reason I ask is because im not really sure if you can use mapster to actually join the floor of one sector with the ceiling of another the way you would with sector walls given I've never needed to experiment with the idea yet.

If it is one room this would mean if I had something like a soda machine on the sprite floor I would be required to build two soda machines entirely out of sprites correct? One for the floor and one flipped upside down for just under the floor. The only features that would be actual bsp would be features on the ceiling? Thanks Again

Make a big room and place a sprite-floor in the middle of that room, and make those sprites traslucent, you'll get the idea. And yes, the soda machine example is correct, and that's how you have to make all of the props in the room.

Ive experimented with this and it does limit the sectors physical appearence so I'll just have to find a cleaver way to work it in. No tilted surfaces for anything on the floor, monsters will cast no reflection and if you attempt to make something like a medkit cast a reflection it looks kinda silly when you grab the medkit and the one below still remains. Doors also seem to be a problem either they have to be out of sight or the ceiling of the sector needs to be level with the top of the door. Still a neat trick though.

No! Not if the props are against the wall. But, things like shelves or counters will not work. They have to be from floor to cieling.
Attachement enclosed. A small simple map with Coke mach. against a wall and a sprite chair in the middle of the room.
