Yeah, they showed that during game 5 of The World Series, and after seeing it, for the briefest of moments I considered cancelling my PS3 preorders. I'm definitely reinstituting my 15-minute TiVo buffer for watching anything on TV, though.

The banned X360 commercial that pops up as a link after you watch the PS3 vid is much nicer.

I thought the "banned" X360 one was way funnier and was overall a better commercial, if only because of the conjured image of the "BAH" lady.

LOLzorz, yeah, that was one kickass vid that X360 one. Seems like if MS actually DID get that commercial through, it would be one hell of a Super Bowl commercial, lemme tell ya!

Of course, with Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer's salaries, they could easily afford to put a commercial like this on the Super Bowl, just a thought, obviously. Dunno why Sony or MS would hold back on that stuff.

Well, im not sure I'd judge the quality of the finished PS3 on an advert for it (all about the games, remember), but I can see the ad generating some controversy if it's aired in the day time.

Also, on the plus side, it could suggest that gaming can be for more mature audiences I guess (which is what gaming needs now, to move away from the 'games are only for kids' stigma), rather than going out with a kid friendly advert. Maybe that's what they're trying to say with the ad, I have no idea.

That was creapy and it reminds me of some of Chris Cunninghams work..

But it was preatty nice (yeah i like creapy stuff, thats also why i almost only buy horror movies, and like horror games)

The PS3 commercial could be as creepy as silent hill... I swear Team Silent just did this commercial and Sony just removed the fog and added a PS3 in there just so that you can remember it... The banned XBox 2 commercial actually rocked, I want that on Canadian tevelision... The other Sony PS3 commercial was equally as odd, it was just a different kind of odd but it has a similarity to the first commercial in that it has nothing to do with the product.

Actually if you pay close attention you'll notice that Resistance: Fall of Man is playing in the baby's eyes. (Or a different FPS, but I'm assuming it's Resistance)

Cool and creepy commercial, but I think they make these obscure ads to get it stuck in people's heads. Much like those really, really annoying commercials.

I don't understand whats so confusing about it. Although given the audience discussing it, maybe I can.

The point of that commercial is to make you ask yourself "WTF?", while you are just let known that the PS3 is coming soon, and thats all. It isn't trying to sell anything or provide reasons to buy it. Its just aiming to plant a seed in your brain about the PS3, and attempt to get people to pay closer attention when the later PS3 commercials begin to air, which would have the selling points such as the games there are to buy and features of the console. It's also probably only aimed at people who already know what the PS3 is.

For what it tries to do its probably somewhat effective, but its also had to have been really cheap money wise to produce, and it is also a short commercial as well, so it would be cheap if they wanted to just rerun it in many places even if its daytime.

I'm well aware of that. It's nothing new in that adverts try and make you think "WTF". It has got us talking about it so they've won. ;)

But If I want a PS3, I'll buy it because I want a certain game... I've never purchased a game console due to adverts. Just what games I've seen being played in store. But hey... I'll think of that PS3 advert each time I go into a games store. Which is indeed the point. ;)

I have no idea... But I think that Peter Moore was right at E3, one should invest in an X360 AND a Wii, as opposed to the PS3 for that same $600. Well, if I put two and two together, if you add on the HD-DVD-ROM addon to an X360, wouldn't you already be up to the same price as the PS3?

Yeah you would be; you'd still be missing a few things (like larger HDD and built-in WiFi) though.

Its no different than what threads about MMORPGs eventually turn into. People try to mask the issue with reasons for why they don't want to play it, but what it really comes down to is many are just pissy because they have no money and can't get it.
