maybe in MP2 then...

it would be a nice addition... shoot all the lights, then guards have problems seeing you and get a flashlight or turn on nightvision goggles etc...

ofc you'd need some aswell images/icons/grin.gif

hmm, there's not much point in any of that. sounds like a waste of time to me. A mapper could do this to a map though, again, better things to do.

yeah i like the idea of putting out the lights and the bad guys interact with it (IE. taking out a flashlight and u actually see it flash at you, or they do a arm animation and the next thing u see is there eyes glowing with a green light)

And i figured out how to whiff out the candles in the mansion with Kung Fu mod on...im surprised u could.

The light is pre-rendered. so you can't change lighting in the middle of the level without changing the lightmaps. I.e. not possible. You can do some things with dynamic lights though, but then the room is gonna look much worse...

Plus framerate would go to hell.

Personally I can't see why modern games don't use Geforce3 style real time lighting. Would allow for much of the same stuff.

In perfect dark you could shoot the lights and it would get darker in the room.

Shooting out the lights was realistic until you realise you're walking around in pitch black darkness. Of course, you could just use the perfect darkness code to have everything dark without shooting out the lights.

I found so many other things to shoot, I hadn't even noticed you couldn't shoot out the lights. images/icons/grin.gif

Descent 2 had lights that you could shoot out, and it's mission pack added flickering ones also. It's five years old though, and doesn't use lighting as advanced as MP's radiosity.

Being able to shoot out lights isn't immersive, it's just horrible eye candy. The last thing I want to do is run around in the dark. Don't you think MP is dark enough? The darkness fits the mood, but shooting out the lights would be too much. I never considired anything in MGS2 good, it was all just pointless eye candy.
